A brand new YZ250 on the showroom floor  :o . I haven't seen one in YEARS around here. A little pricey though.

If you would go to any random local (or amateur) race in Belgium,
this is what you will see;

2 stroke mx race (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ASYOoycyso#)

Mostly YZ250's  :)  :D Altho the rare and smaller Euro's brands are quickly growing...

Being a vintage bike nut I'm always closely scouring the classifieds looking for some long forgotten gem and I've noticed something curious in the last half dozen months:the price of 2Ts has been steadily creeping upwards while 4Ts have been nose diving. Two years ago guys were giving away 125s and in some cases they have more then doubled in value.I've seen early 2000's YZ 2Ts actually going for more money then some YZ 4Ts of the same year. The used electric start 2T KTMs are sky high in price in my neck of the woods.Makes me wonder what is going on out there in the market place? ::)

My local dealer ordered two of them, received one, It sold in two days!

He said he has had several phone calls asking if it is still there just from word of mouth.

Last year I bought my 2010 yz250 from him, a guy had given him a deposit, but his wife wouldn't let him have the bike. I walked in an hour later and picked it up. it was on the showroom floor for 6 hours.

Yet the four strokes are just sitting, even with big discounts on new 1-3 year old bikes.

I can't imagine how well Yamaha would do if they gave the two strokes some real upgrades.

I never said YZ250's were rare, I said to see a brand new one sitting in the showroom, around here at least, is rare  :D .

My dealer has 3 motocross bikes on the floor 2 kx65s, and a kx100. the rest are dualsports, supermotos, and small bore 4stroke playbikes.
I haven't been to the Yamaha shop in a while, but they still had an 08 yz450f on the floor last year at this time.

I'm curious what your dealer said about the yz250.
Did you talk to him about the 2stroke boycotting, and the 4stroke unfair advantage?  :)
I expect that bike won't be sitting there very long. Someone will pick that up soon, i guess.

I agree on the prices of used electric start 2 strokes, from 2008 onwards.
Those are indeed very expensive. A 4-stroke you can find on every street corner, almost for free...

It's interesting you mention that you haven't seen one in years.  In fact, the last time I saw a 2011 YZ250 on the dealership floor was way back in '07! :D

Back in the early 90s, there was always 2011 YZ 250's on the showroom floor.

Actually, there was a 2008 KTM 300 XCW for sale here for $6200 and it was low hours, rarely ridden, listed on baby craig.  It was gone pretty quick.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, I just said a brand new YZ250, nothing about a 2011... ;D
