Anybody else on here from N. Illinois or S. Wisconsin?
I live near Rockford, IL and am always looking for places to ride (offroad that is. . I'm not much of a jumper so I avoid the MX tracks). .. though I must not be very good at it since I pretty much have to trailer up and drive to Michigan to hit decent single track trails.
I have raced my trx250R two-stroke quad (and am contemplating entering with my RM250 bike) in the WFO hare scramble series run out of the quad cities. www.wfopromotions.com (http://www.wfopromotions.com) their tracks are mostly farmer's land that gets run for a harescramble once or twice per year, but isn't rode on otherwise. Tons of fun!!

I'm from Forreston, about 35 minutes west of Rockford (10 miles south of Freeport). I primarliy ride MX, but I will venture out to the woods some times. Have you been to Rocky Glenn? I'm not a fan, but seems to be popular for the city folks. There are several riding areas like Fox Valley, Forest City Riders, Rock River Riders. I'm going to attempt the Leaf River enduro this spring or maybe fall? The first one is in March. I'm currently going to school in Macomb at WIU so I will ride Brushy Ridge trails sometimes. It's a haul, but a lot of land to ride. I'll be home for good this May, but come home often to ride on the weekends...Ok, almost every weekend. hahaha

I'm familiar with Forreston. I have a sister-in-law from Forreston.
My wife went to school at Macomb. WIU is a nice school.
I haven't rode Rocky Glen for a couple years, but was quite unimpressed with it last time I was out there.
It's also been a couple years since I rode Brush Ridge. .. but I do like that place. .. lots of topography.
I've never been to Fox Valley, though I've heard of it. .. my brother lives near there and always chooses to ride at "The Cliffs" in Marseilles instead. .. "The Cliffs" is not my favorite as the ground is all hard pack clay and there's huge mud ruts from the Jeeps and 4x4 quads all over the place...
I've never heard of forestcityriders or rockriver riders before. .. are those off-road riding spots or tracks?
-
Forest City Riders put on enduros, harescrambles, etc
Rock River Riders is more a 'private' riding ground. Memebership. But they do hold AMA Dist 17 Hill Climbs in Polo. It's a good time watching dirtbike frames with sport bike engines fly up a massive hill. ;D
I forgot about the Cliffs. I have not been there before. Yeah Rocky Glen is even worse now that they roped off all the trails on the North side of the park. They changed the track up too, but I get sick of the quads flying around without regard to anyone else.
-
They roped off the trails that went through the woods on the North side? That does suck. Those were the only trails that weren't cut and turned into a parking lot by the lazy riders. .. seriously, when a 5 mile (if that) trail is too far and they have to duck in and out of it and cut across everything in order to not ride, why do they even bother in the first place.
I guess I'll stop my rant...
On another note, I'm not against paying some membership dues/fees if the riding is good. .. I'm curious to learn more about RRR.

That's for RRR. I have only been there for the hill climbs, so I'm not sure about their trails? The track I frequent is about 2 miles East of there on the Pines Road. RRR is located right across from the White Pines State Park.

The track you're referring to must be Ki Tracks. Isn't there a go-cart track on that same property?
I've seen the hillshooting place you're talking about. I used to work for Woods Equipment in Oregon and drove past there everyday.
-
Yup, that's Ki-Tracks w/ the go-karts.
-
There is also the Cliffs terrain park outside of Marsailles, Illinois. I have not been there, but it looks like a good place if you want a challenge from quad, jeep, and truck tracks. They allow about anything out there to drive/ride.

I put together a google map of all of the dirt bike places to ride in Illinois that I could find. The link to the map is below. I suggest that you get the exact address and directions from the track website. Google maps makes some mistakes.

Is that the same one from Thumpertalk?

Yes.

Byron IL. mtorsports park is in N. IL. , I practiced there 2 days then raced the Nuclear series back in 98. I think they have 2 tracks now. Mt. Carrol- mini Red BUd is a cool track with some open riding. I get loads from the south side Chicago rail yards and deliver on friday nights to the Beloit area, yeah I have a moron for a dispatcher, haha. The traffic on fridays usually raining in Chicago, it takes forever to get to Beloit.

I ride FVOR all the time, including all their Hare Scrambles. Bushy Ridge is good, but it is a haul...if I am going to drive 5+ hours to ride, it is going to be to Mid Michigan to the Baldwin area....endless trails that can be ridden as one loop or multipul loops(all for only $16.25)
-
Brushy Ridge is also tore up from all the quads. Not too much single trail there. Plus, their MX course is horrid.
-
I wrapped some more info around the Google map that I created a while back.
The link below has a google map, links & MX schedule for Illinois tracks and riding parks.
