Title: New 07 Cr125
Post by: TxTechRedRider on July 24, 2010, 04:17:53 PM
Some of you guys know my story of my 06 cr125 being stolen outta my storage space last year.  It was a tough deal to go through and
even tougher for my daughter who was learing to ride it and planned to race it someday.
Since then we have been saving our pennies and dimes.
So here it is saturday morning and nothing to do so we decided to go window shoping. First we visited the yamaha dealer
and he had two - two strokes on the floor, one was a 2010 Yz 125 for $6K something and the other was
a 2010 Yz250 for I think around $6999 both are beautiful bikes, he said they were rare and that he had to trade for them with
another dealership to get them.  Very nice guy.  We discussed two strokes and he said he liked them, I asked him if he had heard of that
144 kit and he said he had, but he also threw in that he had sold a four stroke this morning, ha ha.
After leaving there I decided, what the heck, lets go to the Honda dealership.
We went in and was looking around at all the 4 jokes and low and behold, there it was, the 2007 cr125.  Its what's called an nos bike.
It was too much to bear and we asked about it and got it.
It does have some flaws on it but nothing we couldnt stand.
I grew up riding Honda's and never had any problems with them, guess I was lucky or so we will see.
On a side note, they have a nos Cr250 for sale if anyone is interested.
Pictures forthcoming.

RiderRedMx2,
Thanks to you also for your response, oh brother of the two stroke, you will have a pm shortly with the information about the cr250.

I gotta say that I am very happy about having a red bike, even if its an 07.

First congratulations TxTech. Your daughter will be pleased  :)
Rideredmx2. I am a selfconfessed "Honda Hater".
Well that is a too strong title.
My "Dislike" of Honda stems from the "Honda Motor Corporation's" ingrained policy that 2 stroke are evil.
I have never figured out why a company can be so against a technoligy for nothing else but the personal whim of the boss. You have to remember this goes back to the 70's. Honda NEVER wanted to build 2 strokes but only did so to remain competitive with everyone else. Remember the failed NR500 ?.
Honda have built some magic 2 strokes over the years and have developed some interesting technoligy which they have sweept under the carpet. If they had let their engineers produce what they had designed i think we would have some neat 2 stroke road and dirt bikes.
Anyway don't take it personally. :)
I was reading the posts the other day that got out of hand. :( So i thought i would post this.

If you ride a dirt bike : Your good in my book
If you ride a Honda : Your good in my book. Has to be a 2 stroke of course  :D

So' I dont "hate" Honda motorbikes, only dislike the companies policy.
I still own the 2 Honda's i had as a kid  :)
I think this is the same attitude as the other "Honda Haters" on this site.
I personally just dont want to give them anymore of my money.

Really I understand this attitude... the big problem is that big red has some really nice machines... so for the two-stroke lovers your only choice is to buy used.

There is no reason to "hate" a company for their policies no matter how mis-guided it may seem.

It's simple actually... just don't buy any new products from that company... if you feel that strongly about it.

I agree John. Thats what i was trying to put across.
I dont want the Honda guys here thinking they are not welcome.
This sites all about 2 strokes right ?  ;D
Hate is a strong word.
Anyway lets all just enjoy this site.

P.S Now if only i could get rid of the 4 Honda's in my fathers garage.  :D Just kidding

Congrats  on  the  rare find, I  picked  up a  06 cr125  for a  practice bike  recentlly. The  mod. race bike  is a 04 cr125, by  JM  racing  from  TX.  Check him out  he  builds  the  fastest  cr125,s  in the country, he  did  Josh Grants  cr125,s  for  L.L., helped  SRS  with  there  motor  program  when  Texan  Jeff  Dement  raced  the GP,s  on a cr125. Tara Gieger,s  04  cr125, I  have  1  of here  cylinders  as  a  spare backup, she  hole shot  most  races  against  250f,s. Chad  Johnson,s  team grean KX125,250. And  Ryan  Dungy,s  Rm125  that  won  the  L.L.  125 b mod. title. TTRR   the  chasis  is  the  best ever, fit feel, durablity  is  outstanding, the  jetting  is a  little  off, I  changed  the  pilot jet, main jet, airscrew, but  I,m  using  my  04 coil  with  an  icat, the  coil  might  be a  little  different.

I have an 07 CR250 that I'm getting fixed and will post pics soon. I'm just curious what "nos" means. Was the 125 and 250 new? Man, that would be an incredibly sweet deal. In fact, I'll bet they are getting hard to find new.

Wow  a  new  cr125, that,s  hot  and  rare.  I  didn,t  know  what  nos  meant  either,  anyway  I   would   get  some  quick  alum.  polish, and  do  the  wheels, hubs, frame, engine, everything  that  is  alum.  Then   clean  and  oil   the  filter,  then  grease  the  linkage  and  head  stem bearing.  The  alum.  polish  makes   cleaning   your  bike  easier, since  the  dirt  doesn,t stick  as   bad.  Your  daughter  is  so  lucky.

Quiz question, how can you tell a dealership doesnt sell new two strokes any longer? (hint: answer is in a couple of my pictures)
Quiz question, how can you tell a dealership sells mainly bikes with fuel injection? (hint: answer is in a couple of my pictures)
Thanks for all the cool remarks.  I got some work to do to the bike before I take it out to ride.  Like I said in my first post, it has some
hickups.  Seems they liked to let this bike fall over(bunch of jealous four strokers), especially on the right side.  I have to replace the throttle tube and grip(s).  I should also replace both levers, I believe at one time this bike must have been a parts stash for the 4 strokes, so I bought some
lesser priced levers for the time being.  The pipe is scratch and dented but I'm not too woried about that right now.
They told me after my first crash, "you wont even notice the scratched right side number plate plastic, pipe, levers and crushed throttle tube"  :o
Good suggestion to clean the filter and I will also check and change most of the fluids just for my piece of mind.  Cant wait to see if the seals leak.
Even with all the hickups, I'm still glad I got it, but check what I have to say after the first few rides  :D
John, Thanks for the help with the pics.

Todd
