Guess honda and mx sports are pretty tight!
Why couldn't this just be like a schoolboy 1 class? That way honda could still have their cc handicap, but other kids could show up to race as well. How can this even be classified as racing? Way to continue the assualt on the two stroke MX Sports!

Well Honda couldn't get the AMA to bend to their will so they created a new class in a new venue. Doubt it'll be all that successful though.
-
Yeah, remember back a few months and they had tried to have a CRF 150R world championship class and only recieved 6 entries. Was a non event. Will be interesting to see if it succeeds.
-
this has already failed once, anyone have the article to that? nobody is going to show up to this stupid thing. 99% of the kids in that size, age range are on 85's and around here the one's on 150r's get spanked!!!!
-
The sad thing is, even with as much of a turd the CRF150 is, it's still BIGGER than a 125 (obviously). Think about the performance gap between the two, think of James Stewart on a 125, then think of the fastest (lol) you've ever seen anyone take a CRF150.
Oh sorry, I forgot. To think the 150F is any good, you have to believe.
-
It will be interesting to see the turnout for this event.
Surely every racer that is sponsored by Honda that owns a CRF 150 will be there, plus the fact that it's at a Pro National will increase numbers a bit.
My guess is that it will slowly disappear into the night without a peep... I say that less than 10 bikes will be entered...
-
One of my good friends sons bought a Honda cr=150 because his stepfather told him 4-strokes are alot more reliable,so I gave the young man about 3 to 4 magazines with articles about the reliability of 2-strokes and the enormous cost of the 4-stroke bikes!
I was hoping that the kid would show his stepfather the magazine articles before they went to buy the Honda crf-150 but for some reason they still got the crappy Honda 4-choke!
The funny thing is that all of the kids friends either went out and bought 85cc 2-strokes or already owned them and now he's complaining that his friends all have faster and better handling bikes & now he wants a 2-stroke!!!lol,lol, ;D
-
I thought that Honda stopped making the CRF150
If you go on their website they have the 2011 CRF450/250s up, but the 150 is listed as 2009.
-
Well, I guess this series is "vintage," then.
-
I see no reason to get upset over this - 1 make / model racing has always been around, especially in Road Racing.
In fact, take heart in it - when one model series are launched well after the bikes introduction, you know it's last gasp stuff.
If they would have done this from the word go - they may well have had much more success with the 150.
Better still, they could have stuck within the rules and made a 125 ( which was allowed against 85cc 2ts )........... well, no, Honda realized that would be a disaster, so they just tried their usual tactics. The rest of the world bent over for them , for once the AMA stood up to them. Wonders will never cease.

They at least made them in 2010:

By reading this I thought Honda was going to supply the CRF150s. Kind of like the RM Cup some years back where everyone was given an RM to compete on.
-
Gents, no worries here ! it will die anyways!
-
Ktm should start their own 150cc series!!! ;D
-
The story I just blogged about my friends son buying a crf-150 & now wishes he had bought a 2-stroke instead was actually in 2008.The kid still owns the crf but has lost interest in riding it because he said after riding his friends and neighbors 85cc. 2-strokes he no longer has fun riding the crf 150 because it don't have a powerband like the 2-strokes do!
-
Ktm should start their own 150cc series!!! ;D
Heck yeah! Can you imagine how fast this would catch on?
Man, It would be awesome if they made a 150 series, and for that matter - a 250 series! How cool would that be.
-

Oh man I was thinking the same thing, that would be awesome!!!
When the 144/150 cc 2 strokes appeared I just wanted to race them, but under FIM regulations (that I'm tied to) the 150 2 strokes just don't have a category in wich you can race them, so damn baaaaad!!!! >:(
-
What a crock! Its probly so the 150 riders dont get flogged by bikes almost half their capacity ;D. Not many kids ride em here and the ones that do get wasted.
I laughed my head off at a race i went to last year, a kid on a 150 got the holeshot and proceeded to be eaten up by nothin but two strokes, even old CR 85's. :P :P

We should submit the idea to KTM and DC lol I am interested to know their answers.. They will have a full gate every week-end for sure!!! It would be so bad-ass!!!! Honda and their crappy 150f..this bike a such a failure.Ugly POS. God.. The sport right now is all about what the manufacturers want not the riders.. This is so embarrassing..

A 150cc series is a good idea.
KTM,TM Yamaha make them already. :)
Then invite Honda as well :P

Oh and i forgot.
Husky has a factory 144 kit for their CR125.
They are giving them away free with the new bike here. :D
-
LOL, A one bike competition, to say this is dumb is an understatement.
Every manufacturer should just hold seperate nationals for their own brands and for each cc. The Honda 250CRF Nationals! The Yamaha YZ250F Nationals! The Kawasaki KX450F Nationals!
This way everyone is handicapped into riding a single bike in every competition. If you bore your bike out you are disqualified, if you change a foot peg you are disqualified, everything must be completely STOCK from the factory. Infact, if you have a piece of dirt that did not come from the factory at the start of the race you are disqualified. Bikes come vaccuum sealed in industrial strength plastic bags and are only opened at the starting line.
Yes, the CR150F is no where near a CR125, but that's like I always say, for some reason off-cc bikes are usually terds. 80, 125, 250, 500's. Odd crap like a 110 or 175 or 450 or 150 are usually junk for some reason and never have any power pull in 2nd gear. They just lay down and die like horse with a broken leg.
-
So we should write to KTM and MXSports? Who else should we contact? I am a firm believer that companies will listen after a barrage (sp?) of letters.
-

For a time in the 1990's I got seriously into slot car racing. It was miniature NASCAR stuff and it was a blast. Had a complete race set up for the cost of a couple of Metzelers!
Because it was so easy to bend the rules with the engine... they started to have engines in sealed bags that were numbered that you would pick randomly out of a hat! You mounted that engine in your car and had to return it at the end of the competition.
Still there were things you could do to the chassis to make your car go a bit better, but the racing was so close! It was a blast!!
Not sure it would work with MX but it would be fun to try. Besides in my little world we would still be racing small bore mx bikes...
Just as a point of reference Roger DeCoster when he was a late teen raced a full-sized 50cc bike in Belgium...

I don't know, I've seen some 175s that can tear the fabric of space-time itself. Of course, all of these are ancient, so I suppose your rule mainly holds true for more modern stuff. Back in the olden days, every bike in the open class had a different displacement, with 360s and 400s and even some wild men on big-bad 440 all just had serious balls. But of course, that was before Honda came into the open-class picture. After they did that, it was only a few years before it all went to 500 across the board.
(Of course I'm being unfair, if anyone deserves blame for making everyone go to the displacement cap, it's Maico with their 490.)
-
I believe Jetz lives on a Islands somewhere! LOL :)

No the really sad thing is a grown man crying about a bike hes never even rode before, cause if you had you wouldnt be saying that its a "turd".First off you compairing it to a 125 is stupid,2nd you guys kill me with this down with Honda crap you spew constantly i think you should get your facts straight before you run your mouth.

The series was made so Honda can push their 4 junk to the public. The bike doesn't offer anything better than the actual 85cc sold at the dealerships right now.. The bike is a stupid concept with no success. This is not the future.. This is another way to make more money for Honda.

Such an ugly mini.

When Honda relesed the 150 I thought everyone else would follow suit. Now they have a model no one has copied yet and they feel the need to support it. I am waiting around to get one with a blown motor so I can transplant a 125 2t into it. I think the chassi is cool it would really be a hit if they could fit it with a 100cc 2t.Kawasaki used to make a KX 100 that was as cute as a bugs ear. It was a great transition bike for the kid who was to big for an 80 and to small for a 125. I think there is a place for this bike it just needs a 2t under the tank. ARE YOU LISTENING A.J.@ Service Honda????
-
Honda sucks, i bought some honda tie down straps at the shop the other day cause ktm shop was closed I still regret giving the honda corp any money!
-
In my 'discussions' with various blokes on other sites about 2t vs 4t, where I just support equivalency, and say that 4ts no longer need the extra capacity to compete (which I do believe - they're no longer foo foo bikes), the 4t fanatics just avoid the issue, by going around and around.
I regularly say, we need to go back to 125, 250 and Open / 500 class formats. But I always throw in a life line for Honda, and say, make it 150, 250, 450 or Open, as Honda have a modern 150 4t, that they can easily put it in a CR125 like chassis. And being the all conquering 4t that it is, it should have no problems.
The silence is usually deafening. :D
[It would probably be a fun little bike to cane around on - and they'd sell a squillion of them]
-
We do know about this machine and trust me, it is a turd. And you are right. It is stupid to compare it to a 125, as we should be comparing it to a 150. I would like Motocross Action magazine to do a 150cc shoutout, that would be much smarter!
Is a 2010 rm-z250 current? We also have a 2006 and 2007 rm125 and a 2006 rm250. And I am here to tell you that our 2006 rm250 flat out destroys our 2010 rmz.
Now here I am on this site telling everyone that I caved and bought the boy the new rmz he's been beggin for. Why? Because this 15 year old kid has been lining up on the gate, typically being the only 2 smoker and on a 4 year old bike to boot. How does it effect the mental game, when the guy next to you is on the newest, badest four stroke around? And how many people know that factory teams won't give you the time of day if you're on a two stroke, because you are on a " cheater bike". (as if having a ten hour 4t motor isn't cheating) So, I bought My son the latest and greatest bike to go racing with. It should hold up for a couple of valve adjustments. I also ordered the factory service manual for it. That manual is ten times thicker than the one for the two stroke! What does that tell you? It's already a time bomb.
When people walk up to him and ask about the 2010 rmz, his response is "it's pretty fun". When they ask about the 250 2t, his resposes are: "it's amazing, it handles awesome, it's really light, it's really fast. Now I'm looking at a $7,000+ blunder. Well, maybe not. 'cause right now the bike is with my son's friend and heading to Ponca and then Lorretta's. You see his 2009 2504t has blown up and after $1,000's, it still won't start. So the night before he has to leave for these national events, he has to borrow our four broke.
So this is why some of us are so serious on this site. It has gotten to where the average kid cannot afford to play. And they are all brainwashed into it. My son's friend was telling us how great the four strokes are, at the same moment that he was over to borrow ours!
P.S.: After my son raced the rmz in moto 1, he parked it and grabbed the 2 stroke for motto 2. He came back all smiles and started beggin fo another 06 rm250 2 smoker!
P.S.S.: Thanks to all the normal two stroke lovers on this site. When I get all bent outa shape on this crap you guys put some humor into it and it calms me right down!

Yes - posts are gone and some are edited. Calling out others on this forum WILL NOT BE TOLERATED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

Anyway, I'm with bearoso on the classes. I've said before I would like to see 125, 250, and 500 (as well as a run whatcha brung) but I like the idea of making it 150 instead of 125. We've got lots of good 144 class bikes, and like you said, if Honda wants to play 150, let's just play 150!
-
I agree with JETZ. Definitely upgrade the 125 class to 144cc.

[/quote]I agree with ya 100% 2smoker the situation is quite embarrassing & I also agree with ya about the Honda crf or cr 150f whatever they call that royal POS! And I feel I have the right to say that because as I said before my buddies freind bought one & constantly got smoked by RM-85's,85SX's and even a older KX-85 2-stroke! I took a ride on his Hondoo when it was barely broken in & I can see why the 85cc. bikes handed the kids A$$ to him! And I'd like to respectfully say to John that I'm by NO means calling anybody out but if bloggers like RideRedMx2 come on a little too strong with the other bloggers on this site who prefer NOT to like Hondas' then I believe they certainetly have the right to voice/blog their opinions. :)

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, This is MY house and I make the rules. Not trying to be an idiot, just stating the facts
If you feel like being a blogger and starting your own site, feel free to do so. But if you choose to bring your petty arguments and/or put downs to this site, it will not be tolerated. The posts and threads will be deleted.
I pay for this site, I moderate this site, I choose the rules. Fairly simple on the logic scale.
-
One thing many folks don't realize is that on private forums such as this, censorship and free speech don't exist. John makes the rules, and enforces them as he wishes. Break the rules and there are consequences. That is not saying that John rules with an iron fist, he lets a lot go. He has told me he wants to let us have a long enough leash to share opinions and discussions. He only cracks down (and asked me to do the same) when those discussions degrade into name calling and personal attacks.

All hail king John! Dose that make Coop the sherriff??
