finally got it done. paid $400 for it And put $600 into it. this bike was in bad shape. i replaced every bearing to include the motor. new crank, all the oil seals and gaskets, and new top end. this bike was easier than the 86 yz. i got it all together and started to put oil in it and found out the hard way that the drain bolt was stripped. i had to take it all apart and tap it. but it works now. on to the next project a 92 yz 250.

Actually, I think that's the plan Jet. I would like to find a '75-'81 MX bike, 125 and up. If I can find one that isn't priced outrageously that is. Bike prices around here are crazy, even basket cases. I drove 6 hrs (round trip) to Akron Ohio to buy that 60 for my nephew.

That's pretty good. $1000 and you have a good running bike. I currently have an 07 cr250 that I got for $900. One of the gears shredded and toasted the transmission. I found a transmission and put about $400 of additional parts and should have it going in about a week (hopefully). I'll post pics when it happens. I can't imagine what the cost would be if it was a 4-stroke.

Albertyn would be proud. :D

Hey, I got my Husky for $800 from our neighbor. It needed a lot of work, but fortunately nothing expensive that really had to be bought, just a lot of fixing a bad set-up. That chowderhead had it setup so that it would stall unless it was run at red line. And we all wondered why he was trying to ride so fast all the time. Total damage of $1000 TOPS and I've got a really gorgeous 250. Except for the shocks, which blew again, by the way. That might be painful if we can't fix them in the garage.
