Looks like there were 3 guys attempting to qualify with KTM 250 SX's at Thunder Valley this weekend. Nathen LaPorte (74th - 2:18.415), Bryce Shondeck (80th - 2:21.402), and Lewis Stein (84th - 2:22.358). Cutoff was a 2:10.797.
No 125's.

bless them boys. almost 8 secs slower on his best lap! wow! our TSM boys better keep it pinned.

If ANYONE thinks there is no reason for the AMA rules to change,
well,
here it is.
Somebody should stick a 380 motor in one of those bikes and slide it in under the radar.

In all honesty don't you think you're really not going to know unless you have a current top 10 or 20 rider switch to riding a twostroke. How are you to know other wise unless the above riders were all proven pro riders on 4 strokes. It sure seems that folks in Australia and new zealand are able to lay it down against the 450's. Even the TSM rlders who are going to be on the SX 250's are not magically going to do better than they would on a 450. have any of these tsm riders got into the top 40 at a national recently?

In Aus and NZ the 250 two strokes are doing quite well against 250F's. Can you point me at results that say the 250 two stroke is finishing in the top tier at 450 national level races?

Correct.

Well citabjockey, one would look only as far as the Vet class. There, age is the class deliniator. I think the guy that won the World Championship, as well as the Aus/NZ championships...as well as NZ MX2 (I think) in on a YZ 250.

Can you point me to a anyone that is truly putting together a "team" effort to go after the 450's on 250 smokers, other then team TSM that is...

Imo, I don't think anyone would chance running a 250 2t in the 450 class today, even though 250f's still occasionally put down faster lap times than 450's. Their are a couple 250 riders down there that sure would give it a running shot.

marshall has been top 40 both hangtown and thunder valley on his 450. stottlie has been running his rm up front in 250 pro class at nesc events.

Nope.
DK ran a 450 in the world Vets. He won btw.

Unless what I was watching on TV was last year, DK was on a YZ250 at the World Vets and beat them handedly. Ofcourse, MotorsTV replays things over and over so it could have been 2011 rather than 2012...

If you watched it on motors TV it was probably years out of date, hardly ever is the racing on their up to date.

I have an article here somewhere on DK at the worlds and he said with the track layout and hills , that a 450 was his best chance.

He said he didn't want to give up any horse power.
