2005 125
Brett Metcalfe 10th on a YZ 125 at Glen Helen

Hey chaps,
I saw this question posted on facebook, and made a post, but no one replied. Maybe didnt see my response. But pretty sure Brian Schuckhart scored points in '09 on an RM 250.
Hopefully you guys can write some history though, as its definitely been too long !!

"Local Pennsylvania MX hero Brian Shuckhart piloted his Suzuki RM250 onto the track and made quite a few two-stroke fans happy. He finished in 25th position during the first moto and in 28th the second moto for a 28th overall."
Good guess, but no points

Ah really. I thought I remembered him doing a couple of rounds that year. I was sure he managed one top 20 finish. Probably wrong though. Will be good to see a two stroke scoring national points again in 2013.

Stewart rode a kx250 in 05 and swapped to 4 in the middle of the 06 sx season I think.

Above. James Stewart was still winning points in 05 on a KX250, I know that much. He was a crazy ass guy on that too. Awesome to watch.

It may not be the LAST time someone got points, but Stewart got third in moto 2 at Budd's Creek in 2005.

So I guess we all can agree '05 was the last time a 2 Stroke won some points Outdoors?

Kawasaki was rushing to get a 450 to market and that is why James had to run the KX250 outdoors. In one of those rounds he set the fastest lap time too.......in 2005!!
It is amazing that it really wasn't that long ago when two strokes were king. The heavy hitters didn't make the switch in Supercross until 2006 - carmichael, reed, and bubba. Not exactly ancient history.

Stewart was on a kx250 in 05. That was the year he landed on Carmichael back at unadilla.

I was standing right there before the uphill whoop triple. Watched the whole thing. Epic, watching Stewy come through that section.

Sure can charles. I believe he still won some points in the 2006 supercross series, but he switched to the four stonk for the 06 nationals.

I dont reckon. I would think there was still some top 20 guys riding two strokes in 2006 at least. I know its hard to find much info on it, as the archived results dont show what bikes the riders were on. I might go and re watch The Great Outdoors DVD's and see who is still riding two strokes in like '06,'07.

Man, really. '05 is the last time someone scored points at a national on two stroke. That is way too long ago. I was sure someone would have scored at least a point on a two stroke since then. Even Doug Henry's ride at Southwick on a two stroke was in '05. Damn, the years do go past quick.

The closest guy to it recently was Ty Newcome at High Point, 2011. He got a 22nd in a muddy second moto on a YZ 250. Jeff Gibson also rode on a borrowed 250XC with electric start still in place that round, he ended up 25th that same moto. Gibson tried to ride out a few more events on the same bike but failed to qualify.
