Title: Just read you guys said the CRF150R was discontinued.
Post by: miedosoracing on April 21, 2010, 08:48:33 AM
Interesting. Can anyone find me the post where a PR was put out about the Honda sponsored 150cc series in Europe?  I'm trying to show my friend that is a 4 stroke lover, that Honda was making the series to sell their bike and it didn't work.

Found it. LOL

Honda Motor Europe has announced a prize fund for the inaugural UEM European 150 championship for 11 to 15-year-olds, which will run alongside the MX3 and EMX2 series for the 2010 season.

The European 150 championship was announced by motocross world championship organisers Youthstream last year and Honda subsequently confirmed its involvement at a press conference held at the Italian MXGP at Faenza.

The new junior championship ties in with Honda??s own philosophy of bringing forward young racing talent and Honda Motor Europe has since announced a linked series of national junior championships ?? the Honda Xtreme Academy ?? also featuring the company??s CRF150.

The prize fund for overall championship positions is:

First: ?1000 voucher for exchange at a Honda dealer plus a place on a John van den Berk training school

Second: ?500 voucher for exchange at a Honda dealer

Third: ?250 voucher for exchange at a Honda dealer

Honda Motor Europe??s off-road racing manager, Roger Harvey, commented: ??This is a really exciting championship for Honda to be involved with and, with the support of Youthstream and the UEM, it will surely bring on the four-stroke MX champions of tomorrow.

"We??re delighted to be able to add value to the series by providing an additional incentive for competitors in the European 150 championship. It demonstrates how seriously we take the development of youth and, in conjunction with our own Honda Xtreme Academy championships on a national level, I??m sure it will provide a rich vein of riding talent in the years to come.?

Riders aged between 11 and 15 years interested in competing in the 2010 UEM European 150 championship should contact Marc Pauwels, Sport General Manager of Youthstream, via email at sportoffice@youthstream.org.

UEM European 150 Championship calendar:

11 April Castelnau de Levis France

04 July La Baneza Spain

05 September Geneva Switzerland

I am very interested to see where Honda goes.  First, the 150R is dead. So they have no 85cc no 125cc and no 100cc bikes for those classes.  So basically giving up millions of dollars.  I am wondering if they will stick to their no 2 strokes, or cave and start building atleast the 85 again, if not the 125. Just waiting to see.

lol, after reading that I had to check Honda's website. If they can't race the 150, then all they have to offer the young racer is a trail bike. Very foolish Honda.

Ya, well, same deal with Suzuki, I think they are holding out on their 2010 models for a while, or, they aren't soming out with a 2010 at all, they may just have so many of them sitting around

So there you have it, 4 strokes rule the showroom floor space. They like it so well, they just sit there year after year. As was mentioned in another thread, you can't even find a ktm 250sx in the states as they're all sold out.

I think it'd be wise for Honda to take back 75% of all the handicap bikes from the dealers, pull the engines (make those available at a reduced price in the parts counters, for those who are gonna need them) and retrofit 250 2 stroke motors into those frames. :D

I was driving to work this morning, and a Honda Motorsports came on the radio.  The voice-over guy was one of those "MONSTER TRUCK MAYHEM!!  YOU'LL BUY THE WHOLE SEAT, BUT YOU'LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE!!" kind of guys.  The ad was saying they got clearance from Honda to sell below liquidation prices, so you could have a CRF150R for just $1,995!!!

I laughed so hard I didn't even realize the light turned green until some guy honked his horn behind me.  They're running out of room to store those heaps.

I'd buy that bike for that price.  I want to build a CR250R mini. That would be a perfect price. Sell the motor for about what you have in the bike.

I'm sure there are all kinds of motors that can be wedged in there, and I've seen a rolling chassis go for more.  So you get a brand new rolling chassis, the perfect size for a petite girlfriend or sixth-grader, and a stylish heavy-duty paperweight for free!
