Title: 1989 cr250 rebuilding need parts.advice..help.!
Post by: socalsfinest88 on January 16, 2013, 07:51:24 AM
So I have this 89 cr250 I have been rebuilding the bottom end because the rod/crank assembly is shot out due to piston/ring failure.. not sure purchased from someone on craigslist.. so I took ithe crank/rod assembly to a local shop in town I brought them a new rod kit and new crank bearings. They told me I needed a new crank and not tobother rebuiling it.. I'm at the point where I'm going to take it to another shop because don't see why it couldn't be taken apart and new rod installed and closed up. Also if anyone has access to clutch parts for this year id love to buy from u ? Need inner clutch hub..  .. any advice wud be apreciated.. ?

Normally shop are not set up for rebuilding cranks.
The best place to get it rebuilt is crank works crankworks.com

I dont think they will install it though.

You will need the follwoing to do it correctly.

Rebuilt crank
main bearings / seals
Complete gasket kit
Top end kit (piston, rings, wrist pin, circlips)

If I were close to you I could help you with removal and installation.

I may have a clutch hub or complete clutch. Ill have to check tomorrow.
