Recently purchased a 1977 Maico MC250 that is complete but not I the best shape. I want to restore but before I do I am trying to find any original photos (not recent restores), articles, Maico ads, etc that can help me see how they looked from the factory. I am finding photos of restored ones but they have all kinds of different plastics, tanks, colors, etc. Thanks for any comments, advice or help!

The 250's were not to bad

During the 70's there were materials shortages in Germany and, at the Maico factory, updates were being made as the bikes rolled off the assembly line. As a result you can have a lot of variation in a single model year - fiberglass, plastic and aluminum tanks etc.. The Maico in the picture has an aftermarket up pipe - should be a down pipe.
I'm actually on the look out for a MC 250 to add to my 77 125 and 400. The 77 Maicos handled extremely well and are very collectible.

Looks like a Honda front fender too.
But SachsGS is correct, no 2 Maico's are alike.
Shut up, Ford. We know you want to say something...

Ok thanks I wanted to do an aluminum coffin tank and the straighter fenders I see on a lot of them but I want it to look original, not what I think is cool looking.
This is the tank I got for it, I am going clean and polish and put the correct decals on the sides:

I've got three 77 tanks and they are all painted red and yet I've seen quite a few clear (like in the picture).

You can always check out my site, www.maicowerk.com There are pictures of bikes in different years however there are original ads and brochures so you could go through those and see if there's any 1977 pictures.
