HOWDY

Fine looking ride
I also just bought a new YZ250.
I need intel as to the spring rates for these machines.
I raced a YZ125 last year and had Enzo suspension on it.
I weight 220 lb with my gear and would like to know if the YZ 250 is rated higher than the 125?
Iam also thinking the bigger motor will handle a EXP 2 Rekluse clutch.
Has anyone done this upgrade?
I race with the Old Timers and it seems every other rider is on a 450.
Iam hoping I can keep up a little better with the 250.
THANKS

If you plan on sending your suspension away for a respring and revalve (Which depending on your budget, I would strongly suggest), I wouldn't worry about what spring rate. Tell the blokes your riding skill, area and weight and they will know what to throw in.
Have fun on the 250
Keep it pinned and the 450s won't stand a chance.

Finally got to ride it sunday.....
I was AWFUL
I'd be away for about 4 yaers and I regressed SO much...I was truly embarrassed. I crashed so many times including this gem

I was so embarrased at how poorly I rode, a real letdown. I stalled the bike early and often, I cross rutted twice and high sided, I had numerous tipovers. AWFUL day. The track was rough, muddy and lines going everywhere but thats no excuse for how poorly I rode....
tore the bike apart today to send the suspension out for a revalve as Stusmoke mentioned, its getting a complete revalve, also put the pipe on, the flywheel weight on, and the jet kit hope these all give me a little bit more comfort on the bike and help me re-acclimate myself to it better.

All of that and I bet it sure was better than the last four years?!! Go easy on yourself and take it for what it is, you know? I am glad you bought a new two stroke and went riding!

hang on you got out riding your new toy cashed a few times your not hurt = a great day in my book .

THIS!
When Chad reed broke his leg early in last years SX season or whatever he did to it when his new fox boots got stuck on his pigs and he endoed, he was out for the rest of the season. He didn't just get out of the hospital bed and race the outdoors did he?
Four years is a long time man, I would poo my panties at the site of a motocross track if I had been off for four years. Let alone riding a brand new bike around one... You're not in a hospital bed, so you did well
-
Don't worry about it, we've all been there. When I first started riding bigger bikes I used to woos out half way up steep hills and stall than spend another half an hour trying to start it on the hill... But a wise man once told me that the worst day on the track is still better than the best day at the office. That is of course, unless you work testing out gear for bikes
-
if you are just getting back on the track moms hard pack dirt is probably a better choice, mabe some trail rides. we all know how hard it is to ride sand with any efficiency. ease into moms and hope to see you at some nesc events.

I agree, partly. Loose, dry dirt/sand is frustrating to ride in. I would suggest somewhere where traction is plentiful if you can. Or hardpack. But traction usually means soft, well groomed dirt which is more forgiving when you take a tumble

Thanks for the encouragement guys! AS you can imagine it was really frustrating knowing how I always used to be able to ride, and then coming back to a hot mess....but as many of you pointed out, 4 years is a long time, and I'm not a pup anymore.....gotta work on not being so hard on myself. Tore the bike apart though to get the shocks and forks done, just put the flywheel weight on to soften the hit for me and I put the pipe on, lets see how I do once this snow melts
and racerx i may chip in a NESN here and there but ill primarly be doing NEMX and some NCSC as I'm a cape guy
-
the cape? I used to live and ride there. still have a house in Brewster. rode at Hyannis pit, old chatham road, powerline track in Orleans, and walkers pond with screws in the tires cause we got bored in the winter. lucky for us we missed all the bombs at Otis as well.
