" Pro Circuit race engines are designed to run for exactly two hours, which covers the practice sessions and both motos at an AMA National. At the end of two hours, the engines are rebuilt from top to bottom, whether they need it or not."
i know this isn't about 2 strokes but dang i figured at least double that time
2 hours is nothing. imagine the costs mitch has to endure

-
now i know the factory 125's were low hour engines also but were they really as volatile as these 250f's??
-
That's bloody ridiculous.
An interesting fact is that an aprilia 125 two stroke factory gp bike is able to run for 6 hours at WOT without failing (as quoted by the designer). If a factory 125 mx bike can't do that then their engines aren't so good
Although std practise in gp was to change the piston every session or two just to be safe but everything else lasted a long time if not a whole season
-
And that is exactly why there should be cc vs cc in pro racing. Not because it is the logical thing to do but because it shows what the privateer is up against. The factory bikes are run on the ragged edge that no one else can match in terms of cost. Imagine the cost of rebuilding an engine every 2 hours of riding for a season, its ridiculous.

Or limit the number of times the engine can betoyched per season just like Moro gp
-
one of the things that really hurts the engine, is the constant straight it takes when landing/taking hard hits. Not saying the bikes would last that much longer, but that does hurt the engine life

Which would also explain the smoother tracks haha..

I was literally JUST about to start a new topic on this exact thing.
Its madness, pure madness. I sincerely believe that they MUST limit the amount of times an engine can be rebuilt per season. It would give the privateers a much better playing field. Of course they could always just allow cc for cc racing
Either way, this thing must cost them millions to race for a season, and its just one bike. How many factory backed bikes does procircuit/monster energy kawasaki forward? 6? Madness.
