Title: Clutch won't release
Post by: benji.dojo.3 on December 01, 2012, 11:51:16 PM
Hi guys,

Got a 04 kx250, Rode it for about 1 hour clutch was working fine then all of a sudden the clutch wouldn't disengage, it just stays in permanently  and will not release when you go to change gears. No idea what the problem is, checked to see if the cable snapped seems to be ok.

Suggestions?

If the cable did not snap and you are sure of this, try adjusting it. Take the clutch cover off and pull the lever. If the plates don't move at all than there is a problem. If they move a little than its just an adjustment.

Will be taking the clutch cover off tomorrow and see whats the go with it.

Hopefully its something minor.

Check the thickness of the plates, the manual gives you the numbers to keep them in specs.
How old is that clutch? Maybe its just worn out?

when you say clutch wont release what do you mean?

that nothing happens when you release the lever (engaging the clutch)
or nothing happens when you pull the lever (disengaging the clutch)

Did the clutch handle go slack or can you still feel resistance?

sounds like you fried the clutch.
