Whoooo Hooooo!! Check out all that two-stroke iron. The best part is that it is at a race in 2010!

2010 is the return of the two-stroke!

Hi John
I was pleasantly surprised at how many Two Strokes were at the race. It was the most so far this year. I did'nt have enough time to take pictures of them all. With Jake racing I ran out of time. I told all of them about the web site and about project two fifty. A couple knew about Two-Stroke.com. You would think they all had been to the web site by their stories of why they were riding a two stroke.  Most said it was more fun to ride the two-stroke and cheaper to maintain.

I notice that one kid has the same bike as mine, a 2001 cr125, I was wondering if you could ask him, how do you make the thing go? It is so frustrating for me.

Anyone on here got a Gas Gas ?.
They sound like a good bike.
I nearly bought one myself but went with the TM.

I don't think you could have gone wrong with either one... (TM or GasGas) both are quality steeds.

I talked to Anthonys dad on the Gas Gas what a great motorcycle! He's been to Loretta's on the gas gas. He is a very good rider. He ran in the Youth 16-24 class and took first place and I think some of the riders were on 450's.

I dont mean to hijack this thread but when I saw the pictures of these fine young people keeping the 2t alive and well I just had to post a few pictures of the apple of my eye, my daughter and her '06 - Cr125.  Now, she is no where near any of these other young people in experience, but she is all about the two stroke and riding till its too dark to see.  She is 16 years old and she rides only 2t's. She's hardly tall enough touch on one side, so she stays in motion : )
We discussed her riding a 2t or the 4t and she said something like, "daddy I dont want to ride one of those pigs, I want ride a real bike, a 2t", words that sang to my heart :D
We finally got the jetting figured out and when she came back from the first ride with the jetting corrected
her eyes were so big, she said, with mud and dirt all over her, this bike is bad fast !
Here are a few pics.

TxTechRedRider stories like that are just so wonderful to hear!! All the best to you and your daughter. It sounds as though you have raised an amazing young lady. My hats off to you!

If you are interested we could do a more in depth story about this young woman and publish it on the main site. Let me know if you're interested.

Hi TxTechRedRider Like to see all the stories and pics. There were more girls and women on two stroke but I did'nt catch up with them but I will as the season goes on. What I wanted to show with this was that Two-strokes are making a come back more and more are being raced and successfully! In Florida we have a very competitive Girls class. I would love to post some stories on the girls also.

John,

You are very gracious and I would like nothing better than you doing a story on my daughter, thank you.  However, unfortunately the bike was stolen.  Can you believe that a guy approached me one afternoon at the storage unit and we discussed the bike then a couple months later came into the storage facility and cut the lock and took the bike, ramp, gas can and even the new forestry pipe I got so we could ride in the mountains? It was a terrible event.  They had the truck on survalance video but couldnt get the plates.
I guess my bad luck was just begining for me here lately as my truck was stolen, the bike was stolen and I practically lost my job all within the last six months.  My daughter and I talked about it and turned it into a learning experience at best.
I know you divorced Dad's out there know what I am talking about when you lose the vehicle you worked so hard to develop in order to reach out to your child when they live with her mother and you only see them less time than you would prefer.
With todays distractions and them growing up in this day and age what with texting and the pressures of being a teenager, this bike allowed my daughter and I the vehicle in order to communicate and build a bond. She would come back to camp and tell me how incredible it was to ride and we often turned that into things happing at school, school and classes, etc..  I am currently looking for another bike. Thanks again John for your story offer, perhaps in the coming months this story will begin to get brighter.

TxTechRedRider my heart and prayers go out to you....

What a terrible loss, I'm so sorry to hear that.

I know it doesn't help much, but I know that everytime things like this happened n my life, they were followed by something amazing. Keep up your spirits throughout all of this.

You can still spend that quality time with your daughter.. maybe camping.. even if that consists of sleeping bags in the living room with a sterno stove to pop popcorn and make S'more's...

This is an amazing opportunity for you to bond even closer to your daughter... take my word for it, she is watching you closely and understands much more than she communicates.

All the best... please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you... even if it's someone to talk to.

John

Thanks guys for the kind words.
In fact I believe I can see some of the clouds moving off and in the distance there appears to be some rays of sunshine ahead.
God moves in mysterious ways.  Perhaps we are supposed to be riding KTM's,TM's or Yamaha's or .....
Thanks again.

Now some of that sunshine as mentioned above appears to be some two strokes at the upcoming racing at Wortham.  :)
We will be there. Go project 250 ! ! !
Long live the 2 stroke.

Great pics, all nice bikes!

TxTechRedRider I am very sorry for your troubles. I hope things are looking up for you. I am not a divorced dad, but I am very close to my nephews/nieces and I know how much that hurts when I can't do for them like I want so I can't imagine your frustration. Hang in there my brother of the smoke! Don't be afraid to ask for help, I have learned in my years of dirt biking that "most" dirt riders are good folks that will go out of their way to lend a hand to fellow riders.

Coop,
Thanks for the kind words. You are right, it can be tough when the funds just arent there.
We are currently saving our pennies (literally) and doing extra part-time jobs for the next 2t dirt bike.
Hopefully by the middle of September we will have one, just in time for some cooler riding weather.
In the mean time we have done some looking and discussing of bikes.
Thanks again.

Hi everyone
I just wanted to share some observations. I started this post to show everyone that real people are racing two strokes. Well, to my surprise how many of them are out there. What you guys don't know is how many riders I've missed taking pics of maybe more than I've gotten. The other thing is when I've talked to the riders thier reasons for riding two strokes. Most did'nt know about the web site but had the same reasons we have been talking about for the last couple years. Maybe because of the economy many have complained of the cost of buying and maintaining a four stroke, and that the choice was stop racing or race a two stroke. But with the rule change of 250 to 250 the racers are flocking to the two stroke to be competitive and soon we will also. But the latest coments I've been hearing and hearing alot is the two stroke is more fun to race and the younger riders have been saying this. I think its a good sign for motocross and two strokes. The economy has hit us hard in Florida and our attendance at the races is way down and has me a little worried. I've talked to some of the parents that we started with and asked what happened to some of them and they say they could'nt aford to race anymore! Some of the ones hanging in are doing it with the help of the two stroke, and its helped us hang in there also.

Also today Adam Cianciarulo was at Waldo today all I can say is Wow! Adam is another young racer on a Kx super mini and is unbelieveably smooth and fast. He will be one of the  top Pro's in the near future in my opinion. Too bad he will end up on a Four stroke. Still a lot of fun to watch and a nice kid.

I  rode  sat.  the  1st  ride  of  the  year, a  local   mostly clay track, with lots  of hills, a  ton  of  rain  lately, I  was  the  only  person there, couldn,t  believe  it, I  still   was  very  aggressive. Today  I  hit  a  new  spot  a  friday night  suppercross  track,  there  was   about  60  riders. I  would  say  60-65 %   were  on   2 strokes. Most  2-st.s  were  on 125,s  more  RM,s  and  CR,s  than   YZ,s, which  is  cool ,  I  was  on  my  06 cr125 practice bike I  just  picked up, put  arround  100 plus  hrs. taking  everything  apart  in  the  sun, and  yeah  I  have a  killer tan  now. haha  Sorry  I  didn,t  take  any pictures, I  like  your  pics  thow, at  the  track  I,m   trying  to ride  as  much as  I  can. I  tried  to  jump  an  angled  single  there  to  slow  you down, into  some  deep   sharp  left  turn  corner ruts, my front wheel  caught  the  top  off  the  rut, and high sided  hands  and  face  in the  loose  clay, off  the  riding  line, total slow  motion, that  was  lap  15  and  rode a  bunch  more  yet, I,m  beat  now.

I  was   really  beat  last night, 2 straight days  of riding  a  125  wide open.  What  I,m  trying  to  say  is  that  there,s  alot  of  2-st.  in  Wisconsin. On  sunday  I  rode  at  GravityparkUSA   they  have  friday night supercross  series. Every week  they  have open  riding   3  or more times  a week, riders  have  the track  wired, alot of riders  just  race  there  and  no  where  else.  There  was  about  60 riders , 60-65 %  were  on  2-strokes, mostly  125,s.   It,s  not   a   2-st. track,  but  more  riders  are on  them. I,m  still  laying  on ice, my  back  bent  the  wrong way, my  helmet  went back  and  drove  my  chin  into  the ground, when I  high sided.
