ive been posting this biuld on thumper talk . but i know i should be posting it here . so ill try to get everyone up dated.
i have a 1991 yz250 engine with a Ohlins 360 big bore kit . im installing a wr trans and putting the whole thing in an 05 and newer two stroke frame.
here im fitting the 360 into the frame to see what need to be done to make it work .

here the frame has been welded and i have some yellow plastic on it . engine fits nice but it very close to the tank. using a bolt insted of one of the studs will fix that .

here is some art work i did . i really want this to have a 1970's yz360 look

this is the look im after . 70's yz360 meets early 80's yz meets Ohlins 360.

That's awesome
I have always wanted to see a 90's engine in a modern chassis. How difficult was the engine mount switching to get the 91' to fit?
-
had to have the steal sleaves that go into the back of the block opened up to fit the larger swing arm bolt. moved the lower mounts. the hard part was the front mounts. its very tight . when i set the engine i set it for the 94 pipe to fit.

That's going to look sick! Can't wait to see it finished. Nice to see someone else with a dyno racing ports pipe too hahaha, I haven't seen many of those around on motorcycles.

NICE bike!

Very exciting! Nice Taste.
Did anyone ever see that article a year or two back where (Dirt Bike Magazine?) tested a YZ250 with a 380sx engine? Reminds me of this. Awesome stuff.

There's a company on ebay doing these at the moment, except they are putting them into the 450 frame.
$8500 ride away.

You say you are using the wr trans., are you going to use lighting coils and lights as well?

I can't. I've been looking everywhere for it since I read it in Afghanistan.

This is awesome. Thoroughly awesome. I'll be watching it closely.

Ive got a brand new piston for this cylinder and some spacer plates and gaskets etc Had 2 of these bikes in the mid 90s they were very fast. let me know if you wanna buy the parts for cheeep . I used Noleen pipes back then If you can get some from Clark Jones its well worth it the stock 250 pipe will work but she just doesnt rev as well also the silencer core is a bit larger so it flows . Dyno might be able to set you up though.Make sure to reset your timing as the longer rod kit wants more lead timing. we used stock reed cages with active reeds but built reed stuffers out of epoxy to fill in the massive airspace .eventually we tried rad valves seemed too restrictive unless we opened them up a bit. wish i had that bike back actually.
