Im thinking of sellin my 05 CR 250 so I can buy a CR 500.
I've been lookin on eBay and they're a bit cheaper in the US compared to here.
I just wanna know how easy it is and how much does it cost to have one shipped over.

Be VERY careful about buying off Ebay, there's a lot of roaches floating around there. I would suggest looking also on Craigslist and Kijiji here in Canada and the U.S., you'll find a lot of good deals on those sites. You'll also have to be careful as people over here are very wary of Nigerian scammers etc.. Good luck!

Its a bargain and if it was all ready here i would buy it in a heart beat
I am holding off , scared of the taxes,duties and other charges and fees it could cost double

I am getting my bike in a couple of weeks from USA arrives 30/10/12
Total cost for shipping is about $1800.00 plus GST on purchase of bike and shipping. I bought mine from Illinois and transported to Chicago then it was transported by road to California and then shipped across to Perth all up under sixty days. Make sure you have a certificate from US. Authority to import to Australia and make sure it can not be road registered here(do not buy one with road approval from US can cause a lot of hassles). Make sure bike is meticulously clean and no fuel in tank other wise more expense at customs. Shipping from Cal is cheapest and if you want crating add about $400.00 to $500.00 highly worth it mine was. here is a number if you want to contact him he is really cool (just say Fab sent you) and will help you every step of the way. I bought mine from a retired policeman so that part is all trust. in all fairness I did find the bike through TSM website some guys were knocking the bike saying how ugly it was, but at the end of the day I bought all plastics in the Us for just over $100.00 and it was shipped with the bike. This bike had supposedly $40K spent on it and never ridden. I got it for $6,500.00 plus shipping and crate so a lot of change out of 9K. I will post pictures of it as soon as I get it on TSM.
Overall very easy but you have to part with your hard earned cash to someone you do not know, and that is the biggest risk.
If this works out I will do again there are some real bargains to be had.
PS I was just about to purchase a CR500AF in the US when this came up, it was $7000.00 and had over $14000.00 spent on it, it was a beauty.
so to be realistic add about $2500.00 for everything in shipping plus insurance. Go to Cranky Ape they have some amazing deals on dirtbikes and boats etc.

i shipped bikes to Aus before , best way to do it is strip it completely and send in as used parts keep your invoice under 1000 dollars and pack it so it takes up no more than 1 cubic meter . its easy to do as i have my SX 250 on the way from spain to indonesia . i have shipped bikes all over and in parts is by far the cheapest
I have been sending engines in pieces back to oz this way - when the time comes will be sending my KX250 back. And all my belongings. Just need to find someone to send the crap back with via slow boat, til now everything has been going back in USPS flat rate boxes :p My frame and swinger ain't gonna fit in one

The easiest and cheapest thing to do is to find someone in Aus, I can personally recommend Darren Cheney from mid life crisis imports, who specislises in this.
It'll cost you about $900 freight plus gst and duties, on an AF, probably a tad over $1500 which includes the freight.
The last time I bought a bike I was stupid and had the seller crate it and send themselves. Even though the fright will be a touch less, it's a much more complicated and costly process as the bikes sent as a single consignment and there's so much paper work (will end up costing me $2000).
If you find a guy like Darren (I can recommend someone regardless of where you are) they specialise in doing this, they fill up whole containers and clear them in massive lots. All the paperwork is done and for you it's so much easier.
