Hey guys im new to the forum.Names Matt Born in and raised in florida, been riding for over 15 years. Ive went back to a two stroke and absolutley love it!! Im currently riding a 2007 cr125 and love it but im looking for more power. I use all the power in the bike and thinking about a 144. Ive talked to eric gorr and brent from tdc two stroke performance. i got more talk from brent from tdc then eric. He seemed like he actually cared about my bike and getting the most performance out of it. What are your guys thoughts?? thanks

The 144 kit will give you some more power. Either that or buy a 250 hahaha. I have never dealt with either of those two guys so I can't help you there, sorry. Welcome to the forum

I've run a Eric Gorr rm144 . Great power, very happy with the results. I've also had an E/G rm295. Awesome.
To the o.p., what do you weigh? Whats your riding ability? Depending on your answers, a 250 might be the way to go. But for pure fun, a 125 or 144 is the way to go.

Thanks guys, I've rode 250 two strokes and dont like them. their more like a four stroke and heavy to me. I love how you can throw around a 125. I ride my 125 pretty hard on the track. Like to stay on top end all the time. Im for sure getting a 144 and regearing my sprocket. I've read so much about av gas and not to use it and that its good and all this bs. whats the honest truth haha

Forget the 144, porting, carb borre, older style icat, and the right pipe a 54mm true 125 will be exactly what your looking for. I have a 04 with 2mm stroker crank and 2mm over borre, 40mm carb, etc. My 06 with rad valve, icat, 03 kx HGS bud pipe, pounded, bent, cut to fit on my 04, that has a radiator hose on the inside of pipe- I hammered the pipe in to get clearance, the 07 doean,t have that hose. So you don,t have to hammer the inside of pipe in, so you might get more power without that dent. With that pipe the 06 is at 38-39 hp, with a hard pull from the hit to 12,000, then still revs out more.
I hear the 144 just punched out to 144 cr,s are not reliable, blow ups, exhaust port bridge breaking.

as far as 144 reliability ive heard more issues with the crank bearings goin out sooner due to a heavier piston. the yz and rm 125s ive heard have issues due to small cases. as far a cr144 goes ive heard great things about it. however if youd like a good balance look at doing a 139 or a 134 kit. but you cant go wrong with a 144.

According to Eric Gorr's website, the 144 piston is lighter than the OEM 125.
The nice thing about a big bore kit is they usually come with all the porting and head mods too. Get the right pipe at the same time and they can set it all up to work together giving you maximum results. And there are the oval bore carb mods, probably even better with a big bore job.

Thanks guys for replying i went with brent at tdc two stroke performance. He seems like a honest guy, so i sent my motor to him last thursday, he got it today so in a few weeks ill get it back. He said he checked my topend out when he got it today and he said he saw pre detonation on the pistion. Which last week when i rode my last moto the bike was pinging at topend so im happy i sent it to him. But he told me to run some 110 leaded mixed with 93 like 60/40% ratio. Also he told me that its a must i keep this engine cooled. He said that ebay has some aftermarket oversized radiators for 85 bucks. anybody ever use them?
-
I saw over size radiators made in china on ebay, I wouldn,t buy them. The 05 came stock with thicker and more cores in the radiators. You should be ok with engine ice with a little redline water wetter. TDC is right about the fuel, pump gas sucks, I use Renagade 110 leaded sold at a pump. I put a few layers of insulating tape on the gas tank and fuel line with a plastic shroud around the fuel line. Put fuel can on a bag of ice, fuel burns better and slower then. My 04 mod cr125 has the carb borred to 40mm, you wouldn,t believe the fuel it uses. Have tdc match the exhaust spicket to the exhaust port and the metal gasket or you could do that with a dremel tool yourself.

I am a fan of 144's. I think they are a lot of fun. Keep us posted when you get your engine back.
-
Ya i already use engine ice but have never used that redline water. brent said he uses those radiators and it has drop the engine temps 15 degrees. Which is a good amount. I dont have renegade 110 around here but do have sunoco supreme which is 112 leaded. Thats a good idea about the insulating tape on the tank and ive heard about keeping the fuel cold. Ill do that for sure. brent said he was gonna grind out the exhaust ports since it doesnt match up. and coop ill keep you guys posted on the 144 for sure!!
-
yeah its recommended using at leat half half with leaded fuel. unleaded in kryptonite for 2ts
-
Im thinking about buying sunoco supreme 112 leaded and mix it with non ethanol 90. and do a 60/40 ratio.you think that would be alright?
-
Yeah 60/40 in a stock engine should be fine. One time the renegade pump was broke, so I used bp super unleaded enthanol free, mixed that with old race fuel. The 06 still ran great, I have the older style icat on. That makes it snappier, pulls harder in the mid, if jetting is a bit off the icat it will still run great, icat makes the spark duration longer, works great on cr125,s 04-07. Under a load like deep sand, loam, steep hill, it will pull harder in the mid, and sound like a gp 125
. I,ve seen new ones on craigs list for cheep.
-
super trucker my bike is gonna be a 144. and can you still get the old icat? I might wanna try that out.
-
A few months ago I saw a couple on craigslist. There,s an aftermarket ignition for 05-07 cr125,s sold in Europe. Watch mx207 Maine st. championship races on youtube, they have there cr125,s screaming. No need for a 144, watch msmc 2-stroke class moto 3 // uncut, 2 cr,s stomp the field. DEP pipes are know for more top end, I think a guy on here is a importer, then port for mid to top, borre carb, should be a winner. Watch mx207 maine st. championship 2-stroke 125 class, a helmet cam on a cr125, at 2.58 a mod cr125 passes him and pulls away, that has pc pipe and some great porting, rips on the topend.

Ill check craigslist and ebay for the icat and i watched the videos and ya that honda pulled on that stock honda for sure. My motor is already bored out im waiting for it to get back. This bike is not being raced at all its just for practice at the tracks. so im excited for more power it deff needs it!! =]
