"both 2 strokes and 4? strokes will blow up, but 4 strokes tend to destroy EVERYTHING when they do."

Exactly.  The one time I blew up a YZ250 2-stroke all that happened is that ring snapped in two and embedded into the piston skirt but didn't explode the piston or rod.  I took the cylinder in to my shop and they couldn't believe it because the piston was trashed but the cylinder had no scouring and still had nice fresh hone marks.  I don't think I've heard any stories of a 4-stroke having a piston problem that didn't end with the piston grenading and taking out the cylinder/etc.

My favorite part is the reactions of 4 strokes blowing up. Especially if they've just sunk a large sum of cash into it hopping it up.

Pretty bad when there's this many videos of 4's goin bang, I wonder how many more there are? I can't laugh too hard though I had an 89 RM 250 which snapped a rod and put it through th cases, it was a very poorly maintained when I bought it, i only had it for 3 months before it went bang
