Title: about time a 125 is a 125
Post by: fabbo on August 25, 2012, 12:58:16 PM
I was speaking to my neighbour and his son races motox. I just bought up how its wrong a 125 has to compete against a 250 he said in 2013 that rule will change to equal displacement till they are 16. So he was saying a 144 cannot compete as a 125 but it can compete against a 250, and no 250fs are allowed against 125s. Accident rate too high on 250fs. He also mentioned in the 250 class they are going back to twostrokes Simply because of cost of maintaining a fourstroke and losing riding skills on 250fs. When they switch back they realise how many skills they lacked. Any way I will quietly stand back and see what happens here in Oz in 2013.

Any one out there heard anything similar or not?

Havnt heard anything like that. At the moment the current structure is junior lites (under 16) is up to 150cc two stroke, up to 250cc four stroke. Riders under 16 cant ride a 250 2 stroke or 450 4 stroke.
Over 16(senior) it is cc vs cc. Up to 250 in the lites and up to 450 in opens. Personally that works and I can't see them changing it

we have kids winning races on 125's in youth classes alot in the nesc, just witnessed it today, and the rule is 125s and 250f's only. so its really no dis advantage in my opinion. its about rider skill. so lets stop feeling sorry for ourselves and race them two-strokes suckas.

So you're saying easier to ride, more power and more tractability isn't giving an advantage to the fourstrokes?  ::)

I'm seeing tons more 125s as a kids bike at my local track. Tons more. And a fully grown man on a 125 or 250 i've seen as well. Its turning around

Depends on what level of racing you are talking. At the junior nationals this will be the case, but at a club, or even state level, I dont think we will be this lucky. Still very much up in the air on what changes to rules will be made. Whispers that a lot of people are wanting the 250 two strokes out of the lites class for next year at a senior level also. Hopefully this doesn't happen.

I share the same opinion and always have, it may have a difference at the very top level but other than that it comes down to who's twistin the grip :D

I haven't heard anything about the rule changes, but if it's true I WILL BE SOOOO HAPPYY that I don't have to bust my ass keeping up with the 250's on straights and crap.. :D

Hopefully they don't put the 250 2t against the 450's again. If they do I will be getting a 300 kit for the kato. I can see why people don't want them to race against the 250f's, they do have a big power advantage but they lose a bit in rideability, something 4t owners never recognise
