I saw this yesterday at the AMA Vintage days and thought of you
.
Sachs road racer:
-
WOW!!
-
Thank G*d there are still some real men on this planet!

I suspect that this custom is powered by a 70's vintage Sachs 340 single as used in snowmobiles and the Rokon line of motocrossers and enduros. Thanks!
-
That reminds me of mad max. Classic old road racers. That there is a beauty. I saw an old AJS road racer a few days ago, didn't get a photo though it was on the road

Holy Sheep! A Rokon Ranger Roadracer?
It would indeed take a real man to harness the power.

I wanted to wait for a couple responses before I added this pic. They dude said it started life as one of these (had it sitting near the road bike):

About what I figured
It looks like a nice job though.Enough of that pos
,is that a KH behind it?

Sachs, did I see somewhere that you're interested in Sachs/DKW parts and bikes? How about this?

"For sale 10 Sachs / DKW motorcycles, with about 12 extra engines, extra frames , wheels , brackets , ect. These are 1970's 100cc and 125 cc MX and enduro models. They have been out of production since the late 1970's. It also comes with a NOS ( New Old Stock ) parts inventory with mostly engine parts. Pistons , rings , gears , nuts bolts , ect. Everything I have Sachs / DKW goes in this sale."
-
Is that the guy in Caldwell,Texas?
-
No, he's here in Nevada. I think he has a bike boneyard he's clearing out, some more of his stuff

"I have for sale and trade about 55 Hodaka motorcycles and an assortment of parts. I have most models. I am not selling my large inventory of NEW OLD STOCK parts at this time, although may consider if I have a lot of a particular item"

"For sale is a NOS ( new old stock ) parts lot of Maico early 1970's. They are in very good condition. a Preston Petty coffin style Maico CZ Aluminum gas tank . 1 400cc Wiseco 0.40 NOS Piston kit, with about 5 sets of rings, 4 sets fork boots ( 2 Rocky Cycle parts 1 set Daystar and 1 unknown set ) , 2 sets fork seals, 2 aluminum shift levers, 1 Impact GSL73-1 gear shift lever, 2 wheelsmith air box rings, and misc other parts. Will consider reasonable offer."

There's nothing more fun then a boneyard!

How much does he want for the Sachs/DKW stuff?
Any Zundapps mixed in there?
-
"Available are 2 175cc CZ / Jawa motorcycles, model 477. They are mostly complete, and you should be able to make 1 with some extra parts to trade or sell off. May consider trade for rifle - handgun, 4 wheel drive parts or $350."
Guys prices are pretty good, if I had more space to put stuff I'd be getting all kinds of stuff. No Zundapp stuff yet but you never know.

There's actually been quite a few ads with people wanting to trade bikes for guns lately
-
Hey Riffraff, do you have a contact number and address for the bike wrecker guy? I buy vintage stuff once or twice a year and stick to a budget (I'm buying a 1975 Hercules GS175 6A - really rare bike - as we speak) but if the guy still has the stuff a few months down the road I might be (very) interested.

I saw what looked to be a Sachs motorcycle on the side of route 6 over the line in RI. I;m pretty sure it was one, but I could only pass it so slow. It looked like the one im Coop's first picture. It was in the middle of someone's front yard
