Do you know which model he has? Some of the prototype Sachs Hercs in the video are 350 and 500cc.

I haven't talked to him yet but I see his sig on one of the local sites and it's a 1976 GS175.I would have sworn it was older than that just from the style.

Do you know Helmut Clasen? He has Hercules bikes, and still races them. I raced against him in vintage this season. He wanted to try out his new titanium knees

I have spoken to Herr Speedy in the past about various things and he sure has some nice Hercs! What kind of vintage bike do you have?

That is a 1982 Q2 Qualifier correct? What motor and front forks? Nice trophy and was Helmut there and if so,what was he riding?
Those Allouetts are rare.

Helmut doesn't run this series. He races with my main club, steel city riders.
It's an 82 Q IV with an 80 tank. I did it up to look more like the 80 works bike. The fenders are custom. It's a 175 and the forks are original Marzocchi's, I think 35 mm. I know where there's a set of 250 forks that are 38's and have a bit more travel. If I can get around to picking them up, I'd like to put them on as one of mine is in rough shape.
I don't know what it is with this bike, but people tell me I'm faster on it than I am on my late model 125. I love the way it handles, and how soft the suspension is.

Being the motorcycle packrat that I am, in my collection of stuff I have an 82 Qualifier chassis and an 80 MX4 125 engine AND an 80 125 Qualifier engine. The possibilities are endless!

That's the great thing about bikes, parts mix and match so easily, and since I was out with these guys again, I'm thinking about a real vintage bike for next season and running both classes, vinatge, and post vintage. I found a good Can-am candidate locally, for $900, almost ready to race. It's great fun, and not nearly as expensive as most other motorsports.
This was the last 100' of moto 1 (pic taken from the finish line jump). How's this for a close finish?

MX1 Can Am? I've got a CZ 250 I could have ready when I have time.
I love the "Hot rod" aspect of modifying old bikes.

So do I. Most people at the track have no idea that my bike never looked like that. The number plates were added, the front fender (cut way down) came off my KDX 220, and the tank is from a 1980 bike. Looking at a lot of the vintage race bikes, you see some pretty interesting improvisations. After I do the fork swap, I want to run the pipe straight to a vintage looking silencer I'm fabbing up.
I found a TNT locally that I could probably turn in to an MX1. It's not like they're much different. There's so much of that stuff for sale around here I can wait and be picky.

Congrats beaner, that's too cool.I like the old Can Ams.A guy I used to work with had a 125,250 and 400.I went riding with him a few times with the 400.The thing was a torque monster. He had an exhaust on it that he said was CanAm's performance unit.It had"disco-jet"stamped on the side of it(sign of the times I suppose-lol)The thing was positively ear splitting-even blipping it at idle.I'd never heard anything like it and would put it worse than any 4t I've heard. He only had it on for one ride.I remember thinking at the time those were from the days when people didn't get excited about noise.
