its leaking on the left hand side, either by the sprocket or shifter seal
will i have to split the cases to change these seals?
its not leaking bad, but it definitely is leaking
also would i have to split the cases to change the shifter shaft? its kinda getting worn out where the shifter is mounted on the shaft
thanks

No you wouldn't have to split cases, even if you replaced the shift shaft, you will have to remove the clutch side and maybe the clutch basket, not too sure.

Most likely the sprocket's seal if the sprocket is loose it also beginns to leak. Check the bearing behind the seal it likes to go if the chain is run too tight.

Most likely two places it's leaking from is as you surmissed the shifter and sprocket seals. A lot of times grooves get worn into the steel collar causing the leak. Without really seeing what the problem is I'd replace the seal, the steel collar, and the o-ring under the collar. The shifter seal usually won't leak unless it's damaged or the shifter shaft is bent.

Moose racing sells a countershaft seal rebuild kit. I think they are like 25 bucks. Comes with everything you need. Have a seal puller close by to make your life easier.
