Title: Dungey on a 125
Post by: coblefutch on June 26, 2012, 10:09:24 PM
See on Vital that at a KTM sponsered event in Sac Ca Dungey rode both the 125 and 250 2 stroke and nobody bothered to film it except one 10 second clip..

you would think this would have been a big deal... but maybe John Q. Public is still more interested in the 4t?..... or simply was a last minute appearance? (I rode my KTM 125 today and loved every minute of it!!!)

I'd say its just another effort to make the foopers look better. We can't have pro riders riding bikes that aren't in their contracts. Maybe he was just testing or just fooling around. Either way, would've been good to see a pro on a real bike right?

I'd love to hear what the pros REALLY think about the current state of motocross. No cameras, no microphones, no dark interview rooms, just discussing it over a tallie. That would be something to hear wouldn't it. JM has already dealt his opinion, thankfully. But Carmichael who raced and was incredible of the last generation of two stroke moto/supercross and then went to the foopers. He would've seen alot of changes same as JS7 and Chad. I maintain that James is much faster on the screamers. Even in that vid of him riding a YZinger 250 around his backyard track he looked faster, and sounded much better

JM came up when 2t's still ruled the tracks, I am not surprised that he said that... most other Pro riders would probably say on payday, it is 4t all the way... it is what it is.

Dungey did say on his twitter thing that he had a blast riding the 125. Maybe after he sews up the championship he will get to race a stroker at one national like Roczen did last year..

I don't understand why he doesn't practice on a 125/150/250 smoker. I would think it would require him to use/see more of the track, look for different lines, and help keep his already extreme fitness at a high level. I would like to see him having a morning practice session on a smoker, and then jumping back onto the stroker would be a good thing...
Just my $.02 worth

Who is JM ? I,m surprissed Dungey didn,t ride a RM 125 at all, when he was at Suzuki. His 125 b class ride at LL , on JM Racing RM 125 got him his factory ride. He never mentioned JM racing or thanked them, the same with all the other JM Racing riders, kinda of weird.

I agree that it would definitely make him look for better lines and quite possible improve on both his skill as a rider and his already peak physical condition. But to take the WOT, railing the outside line attitude and riding style back onto a 250F or 450? He'd do nothing but crash out. The riding styles, attitudes and lines are sooo different it would kill his skill on the four joker I reckon. You can't ride a four stroke like a two stroke its unhealthy. Thats my experience anyway.

With most of the competition out in the 450's dungey will wrap up championship before the last race so KTM should let him ride a 250 2t in the last one or two events. KTM sells these bikes and i think dungy would still win or get a top place(with normal national setup, suspension mods). You would think KTM marketing dept would have a field day with this and they are suppose to sell as many bikes (whatever the type). I dont see why they wouldnt want to. Even if dungey didnt win he would still show its competitve and if he did win it certainly wouldnt hurt sales. KTM is a business and i think it would be smart move. Just promoting the race what they sell.
Didnt Bob Hannah ride a virtually stock YZ for some races back in the day to show how good the bike was?

KTM has never bothered filling out the paper work required to race 250 2 strokes in ama pro classes. They would have to do that first, not sure but it might be too late.

They don;t need to. They only imported 250? 250 2 strokes and they sold the lot without breaking a sweat. THey have dungey edition 450s to pimp.

+1
and if they got their arses kicked it would have a massive impact on sales because then people like us couldnt say... " if only they put ___insert_name___ on a 2T, he would kick arse...
