Title: HEAD MILLING
Post by: mxtesla on March 26, 2010, 04:21:43 PM
Hi all, new to this site, I got  an '02 kx125 and am looking to get more  hit out of it, has anyone here milled the Head?? if so, how much should I shave off??  I've heard between  10 thousands to 30 thousands.   I've got  an FMF SST pipe, and will run straight race gas.
        oh yeah,  2-STOKE FOR LIFE!!!!!

You don't mill a two-stroke head. It should be cut on a lathe, and the squish has to be measured and adjusted for proper clearance. Too little squish clearance and the piston will contact the head, too much and the engine will detonate.

Send the head to a good tuner, and specify what fuel you will run. They will cut it for you for around $50.

While you're at it, consider sending the entire top-end for a port job. The best performance increase you can get out of a two-stroke, for less than the cost of a pipe.
