Title: not a motercross rider but looking for information about motercross tuning
Post by: charliec on February 25, 2012, 12:50:34 PM
hi there, like the title says i am not a motercross man (though i like them just dont have the money for them :( )

anyway ill get to the piont
i will be soon getting an aprillia RS barrell (wich wont be going on an aprillia) to do some porting with (have done this many times so this is not a problem).
but the problem is tuning for a wide powerband. never had to do this before. there are some obvious stuff that i will be looking at
-Exhaust builts for a wide powerband
-flowing of all ports
-checking the reed area
- a less obv one is staggering the transfer ports.

i thought this right be the place were people have experience in tuning for wide powerbands. what extra things could i do to give me a wide powerband? (any case mods would be most welcome too)

cheers, a fellow two stroke moter enthusiast looking for a bit of a hand, charliec

Disabling the powervalve  and positioning it in the closed position will certainly soften the hit.
