I have a standard bore kx85. 48.50mm. I was looking to get an aftermarket piston, i have a normal weiscoin it now. but is there any lightweight or any special pistons for this bike to increase performance?

How do you figure that? different shapes and weights and materials can all affect the performance of a bike or a car. Otherwise they wouldnt make aftermarket ones......

We run Wiseco GP Pistons in Jeremys YZ 250's, never any problems.

Well get a stock piston and a pile of after market jobbies go down to the dyno and prove they affect the performance.

Look, i dont try to be an expert technician, i just wanna know if there were any aftermarket ones such as the prolite and namura.... i wasnt positive. is the piston i have the best one i can run in the bike?

The best piston is all about your preference. You can have a ton of people say that one type of piston is crap, and a ton of people who say its the best.

A person has to distinguish between 2T and 4T pistons. In the old days a higher domed piston was a quick and dirty way to bump up the compression (and power) in a 4T engine.
In 2T articles I've read about lighter pistons being used to increase engine response (less reciprocating mass) but how that affects engine balancing I don't know. My Maicos run Mahle pistons and they last forever but I doubt they are available for your bike.I think most modern aftermarket pistons offer similar reliability and how you care for your bike will have more of a bearing on how it performs than piston selection.

Pipe, jetting , compression and ignitions increase performance not pistons, if your sure they do take them to dyno and run them you will soon learn if they make a difference or not.
If jet lean the best piston will still seize.

SRS RACING builds the best piston,they don,t make there standard piston anymore for 125 cr,s just the racing piston with a thin ring,that needs to be reringed often. The GP Wiseco is the toughest piston made,they cost more but have performance features that other pistons don,t have. A piston will give you a performance increase that the rider can feel,but won,t show a 2hp increase on the dyno.

if i could get the asso verke pistons for my bikes.. that would be my choice.
but i have used vertex and athena last year in my ktm85 with great success.
got the cast piston since that was my only choice.

Just use a Honda RS 125 or TZ125 ring. The RS 125 kit piston ring is 0.7mm the thinnest I've found.The Stock RS 125 has a 0,8mm ring. The 0.7 and 0.8mm ring still last 500km.

Just my experience...I have nothing to back it up. Wisco pistons seem to perform better but they don't last anywhere near as long as OEM.
Running the Wisco NEVER decreased my lap times.
