For 2012 the big news is the revised 125cc engine for both MX and Enduro variants, the big change is a new cylinder and cylinder head with an electronically controlled powervalve that is operated by a servo that is monitores and controlled by the Cdi unit, this enables the powervalves timing to be more precise to the rpm inturn allowing it's performance to be maximised. The 125cc engine also features a revised piston, new ignition programming and the new lighter gearbox selector barrel and matching selector forks.
The 144cc engine recieves only minor changes in the form of a new piston, revised ignition mapping and fuelling, the new gearbox components feature also.
For 2012 the 250cc engine has only a minor modification to the cylinder skirt for 2012 and some small cylinder head revisions, again the new gearbox selector barrel and forks feature as do some small changes to carburetion and ignition as well as some modifications to the clutch pressure plate and plate material.
The 300cc engine, which recieved a new cylinder and cylinder head in 2011, has only some minor changes, the already powerful, torque laden and very user friendly powerplant has had some minor measurement revisions to the 2011 cylinder and head. This engine will also recieve the new gearbox selector barrel and forks as well as the revised clutch pressure plate.
All enduro 2-Stroke models will again feature the new kokusan Ignition with the built in lighting generator which eliminates the need for the ACG on the crankshaft, this increases throttle response and lessens engine vibration.
Chassis.......
For 2012 the big news is the arrival of a new 85cc machine, the new machine will feature an aluminium chassis, like it's larger siblings, matched to an aluminium sub-frame, it will have new bodywork in the form of the larger machines and will of course still feature TM Racing's incredible 85cc powerplant. This model is unfortunately behine schedule due to material supply and will be available in the new year.
All full size models will recieve a new decal package, a new front fender design, as well as a new headlight assemby and a new speedometer unit on Enduro and road machines. The 2011 changes are still kept and this included a new swinging arm design and new chain guide, a new frame and engine plate protection system and the 'factory' Brembo clutch master cylinder which is now fitted to all models in the range, this increases clutch feel and reliability. New suspension settings have been tested for 2012, adapted and now implimented into the forks and shocks, spring rates, valving, oil compound and quantities have been tailored specifically to the model and it's application for both forks and shock, this has been designed to aid both the comfort and handling at a varying range of speeds, suspension settings for EN machines will of course be softer than the MX equivalent.There is also the option of a new shock absorber design, tested and manufactured in--house by TM Racing which features a billet body and high quality internals.
For 2012 the high specification quality components will remain as normal and will feature, Marzocchi Twin chamber forks, Ohlins shocks, Billet machined aluminium hubs laced to anodised Excel rims, Billet machined aluminium anodised triple clamps, Hydraulic clutches, HGS exhaust systems, Oversize taper bars fitted into machined aluminium anodised damped mountings, quality fixings and fastenings and of course hand finished and assembled engines.
Engines feature include:..billet machined crankshafts, billet machined con-rods, high quality forged pistons, high grade titanium valves, copper beryllium valve seats, V-Force reed blocks, downdraught fuel injection and hand finished castings for better matching and improved flow. It is the combination of these quality components and the care taken to finish and hand assemble these engines that allow all TM machines to perform at the highest level in production trim.

TM's are SOOOOOOOOOOO UNDERATED. They are every bit as good as KTM, maybe better, and look at how everyone at the moment saying that KTM dominates the dirt bike world. I hope that TM can continue to develop, and eat further into the Japanese stronghold on the dirt bike market. Awesome machinery with some unfortunately unwarranted stigma attached. They need a pro level race team in the states to show the world how good their bikes are !!

would have loved to have seen TM walk into the Us market and snag that Daryn Durham and Alex Martin for 2012, and put one of them on the 144cc. maybe put Izzi on a 450. three fast kids that would jump at the chance for a factory sponsorship.

Are TM still banned from racing in the AMA Pro because of the bullshit production rules ?.
As if anyone can buy a bike like RD's or RV's in any shop. >:(

i would think they produce enough bikes to meet the production requirement. but the AMA is pretty much run by honda anyway, so if honda doesnt like it, theyll find a way to ban it. i hate to sound like a conspriracy theorist, but the evidence is out there in black and white. f*ck honda. they did the SAME thing to motoGP that they did to MX, and when they couldnt do it in F1 (F1 went to a spec engine that didnt suit them) they simply pulled out, and blamed "the economy" (manipulate the sanctioning body to change the rules to cater to their own sales and r&d)

Ha ha ,You don't sound like a conspiracy theorist, that is a fact.
What people don't realise is the pro bikes are so removed from stock it is not funny.
Did you know that the Honda 450's have such weak gearbox cases that the teams have to build special gearbox internals just to last 2 Moto's. And then they are junk.
Some riders have been seriously injured because of seized gearbox's.
I understand the point of the production rules but when you have the so called big 5 having to make 1 of parts just to keep the bikes going it makes the rules pointless.
Let anyone that is willing to have a bike homologated race.
TM,Husqvarna,Aprilia etc.
It's not as if they are some 1 of a kind bike that no one can buy.

it's sales driven. honda does not want to see anything out there that could hurt their sales. they are the most gimmicky company and always have been, starting with the 1997 aluminum frame, and probably a few things before that that i cant remember.

They race in the World MX champs but the AMA ( Sorry Honda ) wont let them race in the States. >:(
You read on other forums that the organisers are scared Honda will pull out if they dont get their way and the sport will die.
Bullshit. If Honda pulls out it just leaves an opening for someone else to step in and sponsor who has not had the chance before or whose products clash with Honda.
As an example The World Superbikes are sponsored by Alfa Romeo and the top team is sponsored by a bathroom fittings manufactor (Althea).
As they say when 1 door closes another door opens.

I try to ride 3 times a week (if my bike is finished) and i realy can't live with the fact that i can't ride a weekend because i need some kind of stupid part for my bike.
I got like 3 dealers near me that have KTM parts in stock, so with KTM i'm 100% sure i have the part taht i want to in less then 30 minutes.

Over here, all TM EN (enduro) models are road legal, just like all the other enduro offroad bikes.
But it really all depends on where YOU live, and how your local state laws (or your country laws) are.

@Swapper: The reason KTM is so dominante over TM is the same reason Honda dominates; sheer numbers!. The more riders on a particular brand, the better the odds of them being better riders. If you put 1000 10th through 40th place riders on a 6 year old Kawasaki and RC on the latest Orange/Blue/Red/Yellow machine, odds are the championship winner would be green. It's just numbers.
@Premixed: Although I'd scrap the production rule if I were king, It is a simple rule to meet. You give a bike and a check for roughly $3000 to the AMA to homologate the bike and it's in, period. The problem is that the (non-big 5)manufacturers are not doing it and leaving it to the teams who what to ride those bikes. What I think is stupid (on the part of the AMA) is not not accept the FIM Homogation. FIM is, after, the parent of the AMA! That is like saying it is legal to ride motorcycles in Florida - just not in Miami! TM is according to the website not homologated in the FIM, but we know the list is incomplete because Leok does pretty well on one!
