Title: 125/144 or 250
Post by: tony477g on August 07, 2011, 04:36:58 PM
hey guys so ive finally made up my mind. not being able to find a 150 ive decided either to get a 125 and send it to eric gorr to mod it to a 144 or get a 250t. im 5'5'' and weigh now 128, do you think the 250 would be a beast and i just wouldnt have fun cause its to much power, would it spin a lot? any way to tame it? the 144 would be a lot more to buy because it would be 1100 to get a whole rebuild plus the 144 mod after a revalve new basket pipe and shifter. the 250 some way maybe i could tame it and just a revalve

How old are you?  Lots of Vet guys are starting to get into 144's here, they say they are more fun to ride for them.  I say build a replica of my bike (with the help of eric gorr)  It is a 05 yz 250, 300 kit from gorr with mo betta porting and pump gas compression.  Pro Circuit pipe and silencer, V-Vorce 3 reeds, 11oz fly wheel weight.  Do this and you will have the most perfect bike I have had the pleasure of riding.  It is extremely easy to ride if you exercise throttle control, never stalls in tight woods, starts first kick, crazy bottom and mid and does not fall on its face up top.

tony are there any ktm 200's around?  I'm currently running a 200sx motor (2003) in my 09 150sx frame.  The 200 is awesome. Light and flickable like a 125 but almost the same max hp and torque as a 250.  Plus top ends last closer to a 250 than a 125.

The 125 is only down about 4 HP from the 150. They still shred! I was out at the Fern over the weekend watching Butch and Scotty Stillmock tearing it up on their kids 125 KTMs. It sounded awesome to hear two 125s on the pipe around the track. I don't think they ever let off the gas for five or six laps straight.

If i get a 125 more than likely it will be a older (around 06) to save money and get it revalved and the 144 eric gorr mod. The thing i dont like about the 250t is that its quite a bit heavier than the 125 and will probably spin everywhere since im so light
