Title: Regrets.
Post by: Alec S on June 24, 2011, 03:58:37 PM
I have 2.

The first was selling my CR500 AF last fall. I currently remedying that.

The second? Not taking a 5' 10" Swedish ski racer up on her offer to not fly back to the US and come to Sweden for the summer. Fail.

What an arsehole you are ;D  ;)
My biggest was years ago and involved not going back to two hot sisters place but staying at the bar and getting hammered.
You think you regret some of these things now, wait until you get older and the possibility of repeating it becomes zero and see how much you regret it then. :(  :D
The 500 project looks promising though, keep us updated on your progress.

Good quote Sachs and definitely some truth in it.The problem is,finding two smoking hot 20 yr old blonde sisters who want a threesome with a 46 yr old likely isn't in the cards-and I probably wouldn't want to see them at the age they are now either. :o  ;D

Agreed. There's a reason they say youth is wasted on the young.Oddly,if I could back, the many things I'd change would be either women or bike related-go figure  :(

I try to not live my life by making decisions that make me happy to minimize regrets. But we all make bad decisions sometimes. My main regret was quitting high school my senior year. I had a couple colleges looking at me for football and it was just a dumb move. I did not get along with my dad at all and I couldn't handle all the fighting we did. I eventually went and got a GED and then an associates degree in drafting and now I am currently an electrical engineering student at 39. But it's late in my life to be starting over like this.

Motorcycle wise my only regrets are just never having the money to buy all the bikes I want  :D :D .

We can only appreciate life by contrast so it's going to take some dumb moves to make a person really enjoy the good times.Lord knows I've got the scars to prove it.

Life is all about change and I've found you constantly have to restructure your life to keep up with the flow.I've got ten years on you Coop and I'm embarking on an "Excellent new adventure",it can be scary at times, but it's never boring and that helps make the journey worthwhile.

You gotta be careful about owning motorcycles, after a certain number they start to own you!

Sure you would ford! I just turned 41 on June 23 & I would NOT mind seeing just one 20yr. old hot blonde chick naked in my bed anytime! My ex-wife was 22 & I was 33 when we got married & I certainetly do not know why any straight man would not want to @ least have a twosome with a 20yr. old blonde hottie? At least a single or divorced man like myself! I know I would.........It's legal as long as she does'nt say NO or STOP it's too BIG!!! but you probably have'nt had that problem I would suspect ford!?! lmao!!! :P ;D :D

I could not agree more!!

Life would be boring, at least to me if it always stayed the same. I could not perform the same job over and over again every day, I know some people love it but for me it's worse than death. I feel life is about getting off your duff and trying new things all the time. That's the real juice in life.

For those with regrets, it's easy to have them looking in the rear view mirror. As they say hindsight is 20/20. Just appreciate what you have and if you don't like what you have or where you are... change it! The only thing holding you back is you.

Lol,I'd love to see them how they were,I meant not as they'd be now.The problem is when you're young, you assume that stuff will be around forever.
John,as for changing things, that's true to an extent but some things have a time frame and if you miss it,it's gone-there's no going back.I almost joined the military at 18 as I was in the reserves anyway.Had I done so,I would have retired last year with more pension than I'm making now in salary-and I wouldn't be looking at another 20 yrs to work.
Maicoman,I don't really know if mine is big or not as I've never had, or for that matter, wanted the opportunity to personally compare it to other men.If you have that's fine, these are tolerant times-it's just not for me.I'll have to take your word for it. :P  ;)

Every decision a person makes in life has it's opportunity costs,in other words, when you decide on something you could have decided on something else.A life in the Military could result in an early dirt nap and not an early retirement.

I don't ponder what could have been or what should have been,I try to focus on the future and enjoy the present. You can't change the past but you can change the future at any time.

A friend of mine's father,a man I knew well, took up motorcycle riding at age 65 and had never ridden one before that.He rode his BMW R1200GS to Alaska 5 times (I think). ;D

These CR500 hybrids, how much do they vibrate?

I agree. I used to wind myself up 10 years ago that my friends were better off financially then me because I had spent 10 years drinking, eating & rooting my way around the world.
Some of my freinds had stayed at home building up small empires.
I soon realised whats the point. The road taken is the road taken.

Money can not by my memories. :-X

PS. I nearly joined the armed forces when I was 16. I wanted to blow shit up.

I read something recently in a book I am reading about Lance Armstrong and his 2005 Tour race, and I thought of this post:

"A man is not old until regrets take the place of his dreams".

I like it. I think I will remember that one and stop regretting anything from my past :) .

Ford, the statistics are scary... retirement = early death

Besides if you love something, wouldn't you want to continue it throughout your life? Sure there is a time limit on stuff like becoming a Pro motocross rider or possibly in your case a porn star ( 8) ) but there are other journeys in life to explore.

When you stop living and learning you're just waiting to die...

All true John.I think I'd like to be a pro mx-er who's a porn star in the off season ;D
I think what gets many retired people is that they have no passions or nothing to occupy their time when they retire.
In my case,I'd be working around the house, working on projects, fishing, hunting, camping, biking etc.I've got enough things I like to do I wouldn't sit around moping.Way back when I used to love mechanics but as time has gone on,I've grown to hate every day of it.On the upside, the garage I work at is about a mile from a good bass lake so every day I can look out the bay door and watch the bass boat trailers go by while I work away in the heat, dirt and grease and beat myself to pieces.Sweeeettttt :(

That was'nt intended to be personal Ford...you brought the subject up of 2 smoking hot 20yr. old sisters & a threesome & that would'nt likely be in the cards for a 46yr. old. I know for a fact I'd no longer manage a couple of 20 yr olds maicoman, not that I wouldn't try if given half a chance of course. :D
I've got to call BS on the comparison thing though. You can yard stick yourself all you want but unless you have a basis of comparison, the measurement means nothing.
For example: Suppose you measured 6.That's pretty good if everyone else measured four. However,it's not good at all if everyone else measures 8.
In order to know how you rate, you simply have to compare-there's no other way for you to know-which is why I don't know-and you do.  :o  :-X
Isn't it great how some threads deteriorate   :D

Haha, great thread!

I should be shot, hung and quartered for the mistake I made a couple of months ago.

On a train, heading to a town to go on a night out with my friend. I sit down, finishing my snack in my leather jacket and realise I'm parked next to this girl who could pass for Eva Mendez, but Eva doesn't have black curly hair like this girl.

She's reading the art of war, and we get talking about strategy etc, she's very relaxed and starts flirting about what my "strategy" is, aha, naughty.

We ended up talking about engines! And here was a woman, who could clearly describe to me the differences between two strokes and four strokes, and she preferred two strokes! It was on.

So what did I do? Got off at my stop instead of staying on and even getting her contact details.

Forum, It was a nice short stay here, you may now press the ban button for my heinous crime. :P

I learn't one valuable thing, there ARE two stroker women, who are hot, AND, see it through next time!

crash796 I was a heavy equipment operator myself for 10 yrs. & right after I graduated from high school I went right to work on Interstate 68 which was completed in August 1991.I was in a local union as an apprentice so I was getting paid the low rate but still getting trained. After the breif 3.5 yrs. on 68 I got laid off for a couple months & then got a call from the union hall to go out to Cincinnati and work for the last company I worked for in Md. which was Guepel Construction & that job @ a power plant was said to last at least 5yrs. however the contract they had with the power plant ended & I only got 1yr. of work out of that job & they paid me $16.35 per hr. on that job so I was really hoping Guepel would get another 5yr. contract but they did'nt so back to Md. & then sent down to the Eastern shore to run a terex double barrel scraper in which I had to learn quick because I only ran a paddle pan prior to the terex! Then I was sent to WV to drive a old puke green end dump & a yr. or 2 later back to Md. to run a frontend loader @ another power plant just worked 2yrs. during the building phase of the power plant! I could'nt keep paying union dues & being on unemployment or working as a cook in a restaurant the rest of my life so I turned my union book in & took a crappy job @ Cintas Uniform Company got married, found out I had Multiple Sclerosis, got a divorce, had to go on disability for a while until I can go to some college to train in something I may be able to handle with MS! I still ride though 2 to 3 times a week unless the MS flares up & then I'm down for the count for 2 weeks or sometimes 3 months! I never know how long the flare up will last or how bad it will be the next time! :-\

I don't think I would want to be the one to win that competition between you & your buddy though!!! I'll stay away from that competition ford............Live long, ride hard and when it's your time to go may it be by means of rolling off of a sizzilin' hot 21yr old blonde woman into a bathtub of ice cold beer!!! Thanks maicoman, that would be a good way to go for sure.I'd be more likely to go from the wife somehow hastening the process along-unfortunately not the same way as the 21 yr old. :(
It's funny how you always sort of think you're going to go on forever isn't it? I guess if I can live long enough to see my daughter out bike, out fish and out hunt her future boyfriend/husband,I'll figure my work here is done. ;D

On a slightly less morbid subject, here's one for all of you.To the young guys, this song couldn't be more accurate-to the rest of the old buggers, feel free to cry in your beer along with me.After listening to this I feel like going out and getting hammered-anyone want to join me? :D

;D Great song & video ford! I've always loved that tune from "the boss"Bruce! I seem to always live in the past because I miss living in my "glory days" back in the early to mid 90's before the MS. I had a lot of great friends that I partied with back then & we are still friends @ least via facebook! They moved from Maryland to Seattle Washington to get thier rock band started! They are doing great & are always asking me to come out to visit & go to one of thier concerts. I'll make it out there one day hopefully! I get on them about coming back to Maryland to do a home town concert! The name of thier band is Windowpayne & they done a video for some scary horror movie & the vid is posted on thier site & it's a little creepy but I'll post the site sometime so you can check it out! It is a tad creepy but the band is awesome & they do have a lot more tunes that are much better! I'll post thier site up for you in a day or two ford. You take care & stay healthy bud.   ;)
