Hello all.
My name is Helmut Clasen and I am a newbe in this forum.
Interesting that I found this forum trough a tip from a member in the German Offroadforen community.
I am a KTM dealer since 1975,but semi retired since 2006.
That gives me the time to play with my MC babies.Sachs-Hercules-Zuendapps and lately Can-Am.
I still do some racing to stay in shape but I use only Vintage bikes.
Back like in the good old days of my motorsport.
There is only ONE new Motorcycle I could be interestet to own,just for the fun and feeling of it, a E-BIKE. :D

Hey Jetzcorp... I like vintage bikes as much as the next guy, it's just that you have a true love for them.
Just because we look at two-strokes from different perspectives gives our discussions much more depth.... I really enjoyed the fin thread!!

JETZ, your not alone Mate, I have just given up racing Vintage after a 15 yr stint, I'm even one of the privilidged few to push a brand new Maico 490 out the dealer door.
I only started racing moderns again because of the kids race schedule.

......................and me! Only thing was that the big "turning Japanese" mood was starting to build and I really wasn't sure whether I was doing the right thing or not. It was a real toss up between it and the 465 Suzuki, eventually decided by a better deal on the Maico as I was trading in a 1980 model 440, and being able to get one with the Ohlins piggy-backs rather than standard Corte & Cosse for the same money.
Needless to say I hadn't the bike home long till I knew the right decision had been made.

As a KTM dealer for so many years,I had to demonstrate the newest models up to twice a season.
That ads up to a long chain of motorcycles.But then a few years ago I realised that the bikes got taller and my legs shorter.A lousy little out of balance mistake would pin me under the bike and the competition,which I had just past after a long fight,re passed me again with a smile on there face. >:(
So,remembering the seat hight and the seat comfort of the good old bikes,I began to use the Vintage bikes even in the modern class,and Bingo,no pinned under bikes anymore.And the funny thing,I did not come to the finish line LAST,..
Some riders who first smiled (at the startline) did not smile at the finish line.There is a complete NEW challenge now. ;D
