Got a text message from my friend minute ago, who said that his Suzuki RMZ 250's EFI had shutted off in the face of a double and he had one of the scariest crashes he has ever had... He said that he endoed tens of meters and somehow managed to stay almost untouched after finally going over the bars. Now that thing is for sale in the internet and he is looking for a RM 250, lol way to go...

Wow. That's not the way I like to see people switching to two strokes. I'd prefer they would realize it is going to happen before it happens. That's scary.

A great argument to make them all table tops. I hate the chance for very serious injury on double/triples because of rider error or mechanical failure. Really -- is there a reason to expose us all to this? Will the faster riders win anyway??? I do expect to catch some flack for this position I suppose in this day an age...

i totally agree, triples are dangerous. Hard to beat the rush of hitting and clearing them but the risk outweighs that i reckon.

There was a new Super X track built in Taupo this year.
They made every double and tripple a tabletop.
The reason ? They wanted more people to give it a go.
More riders are now having a go without the chance of being seriously injured.
The top guys are still clearing them and winning it just gets more people into the sport.
Thats a good thing.

I saw more than one new fi 250f's just sputter and die, only to restart after a few minutes at the Amatuer day after the National this last weekend at Freestone. Looked like a fuel problem possibly. ?

EXACTLY my reasoning. I would frequent a track like that. ;D
There was a new Super X track built in Taupo this year.

The reason ? They wanted more people to give it a go.

The top guys are still clearing them and winning it just gets more people into the sport.

Not having seen the fuel delivery system, I'm curious if the fuel is pulling away from the pickup during extreme slosh situations, like you'd encounter during a jump....

Not sure about the pickup location. Cavitation(not sure if this is really the term I'm looking for) might be happening in the pump itself due to the extreme heat and HIGHLY Oxygenated fuels these guy's use in the 4t's. Either way I know it's a scary thing to have to worry about heading to a 50-60ft double.
