Title: 2005 CR250R
Post by: skooli on May 23, 2011, 12:06:04 PM
Anybody have an 'last gen CR250R? I'm looking for actual experience in making more power with mine. I've thought about V-Force Reeds, porting/polishing, and possibly a big bore kit. I race Vet-b and I weigh 195 so I need a little extra juice.

This Sir, is where I'm going for my KX300 kit. Was just shopping for jugs and heads.
I want to keep my stock 250 jug and cylinder just in case.
I would get the broad power band with pump gas setup for myself, and use the same 11 oz fly wheel weight, Vforce 3 and Gnarly pipe I already have.

For your CR250r I would  run a  Radvalve and the gnarly pipe and 12 oz FW weight.
A buddy of mine has a 05 too, it does need some help in the "all over" dept.

Thanks for the reply, I was thinking about the Pro Circuit, bore and polish deal. I haven't decided what I'm going to do. I had a ProCircuit set up on my 2001 and it was insane.

My 2007 was fast as hell and all it had was a FMF pipe and silencer, v-force, twin air, perfect jetting, +1 tooth on the rear and some 756 race tires. The best thing I did to that bike was send the suspension to Factory Connection...night and day.

I wouldnt use Pro Circuit over Eric Gore for porting. Im not taking anything away from PC but they tend to give everyone a 'run of the mill' safe port job compared to Eric. If you research it a little youll probably change your mind.

Get the rad valve, polish the inside smooth, way better than the vforce from low to mid. 250 b riders are winning on the cr250 yet, so they can be competive. An icat works great on a 04 cr125, the same power valve setup as the cr250.

Skooli I weigh 205lb's and my 2002 is ported/polished, 110 VP race gas,  V-Force Reeds, Pro Circuit Works pipe and silencer, stock gearing, 10oz stealthy flywheel.

I also have Factory Connection Suspension which is the best mod I made to my bike.  Good suspension that is setup properly will make your bike faster than any other mod in my opinion.

But most people can't even ride a stock bike to it's full potential.  So I also feel a lot of mods people do are for bragging rights.

PWK carb swap, Rad Valve (I noticed very little difference with the VF3, so I chucked it and kept the radvalve), Dep or FMF Fatty and your choice of silencer (PC304 or FMF PC2 Shorty), and +1 on the rear.

I did all of those, and the head mod from RB designs for 100LL AVGas.

The 300 kit from Gorr is your best investment if you're looking for something to compete in straight-line speed with a 450.  For comfort and ridability you'll definitely need to re-spring the bike for your weight.
