Thanks. Ya, it's a great bike.  The 2004 is on a stand tho, it's pretty low to the ground really, but the tire is like 1/2 foot off the ground in that video.  However, the 2004 is definately heavier than the 86, the 86 is very light even compared to a brand new KTM 300, I think the 86 Maico is lighter, definatley handles better IMHO, but the newer bikes feel weird to me, takes a bit to get used to, always feels like you're on stilts for a bit, the 04 Maico has the same feeling.  The 86 feels like a normal bike and you can just throw that thing around its so light, I've actually picked the entire bike up.  So far it runs good, will have to see if any issues surface as I ride it, hoping that carb isn't jetted too lean, it's a TMX Mikuni the prev. owner had on it, I have a brand new bing for it, might put it on.

Still can't get my head around seeing a trials tyre on the back Toby.
Must work, just looks odd.

The last hill I climbed in the video was all loose dirt, followed by wet rock and it's very steep.  Without a trials tire, going as slow as I was, you'd spin out as soon as I turned the bend.  Trials tires aren't like a minor, slightly noticible improvement, a good trials tire is a very noticible improvement in traction.  But you need the torque and smooth torque in order to use them, otherwise you just stall and you can't spin a trials tire like aknobbie so you can't have on/off torque.  I put a trials tire on all my bikes, they're that good.

Although, I haven't gotten a flat yet, I've heard that is the sucks because trials tires do not have solid side walls, so you're basically riding the rim in silly puddy.

Have a good look at the footpeg location on your 04.On my 380 I moved the pegs down and forward to a position similar to that of an 83 and boy what a difference!I really notice when standing up,much much better. ;D

P.S. Have to find me an 86 GME 500.

How does the trials tire work on the 04?
