Hi all you guys out there in dirt bike land
I found this really interesting article on the Husaberg 300 endurance race 1st place was a Gas GAS 300 2nd was a Berg 300 and folowing the field were 4 strokes they could not keep up in overall top speed
This is the link hope this works http://www.husaberg.com/Successful-racing-debut-for-the-Husaberg-TE-300.23.0.html?nodeID=1135&cHash=b05a965363 (http://www.husaberg.com/Successful-racing-debut-for-the-Husaberg-TE-300.23.0.html?nodeID=1135&cHash=b05a965363)

Its funny most (not all) GNCC / endurance / cross country / woods riders prefer a smoker over a thumper...
-
my friend wants to buy a 125 and his dad told him 2 strokes arent used for anything and he'll put more money into one then he can imagine, i pointed out that theyre used everywhere except for motocross/supercross on a professional level he said i was wrong and that theyre a thing of the past
-
Direct injected 2Ts are the future and 4T$ (copyright Jetz) are the past.
-
Go the bergs. When a company that built itself of 4ts can make winning 2ts you know where te future is headed

"Race Results

1. Melotte/Fors/Gauniaux Gas Gas EC 300
2. Vanderheyden/Cremer/Verpoorten Husaberg TE 300
3. Goblet JF/Maquet/Rosselet Yamaha WR 450
4. Soyeurt/Delannoy/Neefs KTM 450 EXC
5. Despontin/De Soultrait/Charlier Rieju 250"
What's a Rieju 250? Came in 5th what ever it is
-
That Rieju 250 is a 4 stroke.
Rieju is a Spanish brand. But pretty low-key if you ask me...
No comparison at all in performance or quality to TM/GasGas/KTM/Husqvarna/Husaberg.
So it's pretty darn good that this rider came in 5th. Coz it sure wasn't the quality of the Rieju that got him there. Rieju's are crap.

Tell your buddies dad to come read this site for awhile. We will set him straight :D.

It'd be nice to see a stripped down MX version of the Berg.
-
I had the same thought burn, ADB mag rated it the best 300cc two stroke for the year in there last shootout.......

Maybe someone would get their facts straight before saying the Rieju Marathon 250 is crap. It's a Gas Gas EC 250F with different colours. Yes, pretty much the exact same bike, with the exact same Yamaha engine. I even think it's made by Gas Gas in Spain.
So it's not a horrible bike, which means you should not shout about it being a piece of crap to people who do not know this brand. Which obviously you did not either.
I'm not angry, I just get upset because I read a lot of things here that are not based on facts or experience. You might have an opinion, but as long as it is not based on facts and experience, it's best kept to yourself.
Here are some facts and quite a few pictures for the ones interested in the bike.

Thank you, greetings from Finland.
Just to get the facts straight.

Wow there's some cool stuff there, check this out

Really ?
I was unaware that this site was full of shit and no one knows what they are talking about.
Sorry Sachs but 40 years of experience means nothing. ;)
P.S Greetings from NZ

Or maybe he thinks that gas gas is crap too.
-
yep. All 4 strokes are crap, or mediocre at best... :P
Rieju is a pretty low key brand. I'm sorry if i offended some die-hard Rieju fanatics.
Heck, some people even claim Honda's or Kawi's are crap. But this is based on my own experience from the 2 Rieju's i owned. (a RS1 and RR) But hey, i was unexperienced and didn't have to pay them fully out of my own money...
Although ,these days, i still would choose any other brand over Rieju nowadays...
-
Rieju is one of the last of the "cottage industry" motorcycle manufacturers (one of the last of a vanishing breed). When Rotax discontinued their 250cc 2T dirt bike engine they eliminated a couple of micro manufacturers (Alfer and Kramit) and deprived ATK of a core powerplant. We just lost Derbi and the sport needs more participants not less.
While opinions may differ I think it's safe to say that more then a few forum members have a lot of saddle time and it's good that they are willing to share this knowledge.I'm starting to sense that this site is developing a reputation as a source for technical info. and this is a nice advantage to have out in cyber space (however we do need to educate Ford that a pair of vice grips IS NOT an adjustable wrench). ;D

however we do need to educate Ford that a pair of vice grips IS NOT an adjustable wrench). ;D
Are you sure ? :P
I bet if you asked ford to buy you a sky hook he would go out looking. ;D
-
Anybody seen my board/pipe stretcher? ;D
-
I disagree.A pair of vise grips most definitely is the ultimate adjustable wrench in the mechanical world. The only known exception would be Maico-land.In this location,a pair of vise grips would be a vastly superior footpeg, shifter, brake etc.
I'm leaving shortly to take the little one fishing for the first time this spring.I'll look for the skyhook while there and report back. :)
-
Ha! The first Maico I ever rode had a Vice-Grip as a footpeg! Now that brings memories flooding back in (I thought I repressed)!
Reiju is an interesting concept and it's not really fair to compare it to other motocrossers or even enduro bikes. It is not on par with them. You might compare it to an XR, a true trail bike, though it is watercooled and not as good as an XR. I've looked at it and came to the personal conclusion that it is in fact junk but that is not a bad thing. It fills a nitch and it will allow the company to grow into the market. Maybe their next model will be more race oriented.
-
As requested TMKIWI,a skyhook I hunted down yesterday afternoon just for you.Anything else I can do let me know ;D

On another note, that's quite an impressive stable you've got there VintageBlueSmoke. 8)

most of the problems i have encountered whit rieju 50cc have been user error
poor maintenance and using power filter that suck sand right in..
rieju use steel cylinders and i see many that ride wide open on cold engines something is bound to give
-
Now that we have visual confirmation of a sky hook maybe the guys downunder can fill us in on it's purpose?
The 50cc Riejus use Minarelli motors if I am not mistaken.
I once did some work on a 175 KTM and what a beautiful bike it was.I think 175cc was an ideal size for an offroad motorcycle, the Kaw KDX 175 being an excellent example. ;D
-
Indeed, the 50cc Rieju's use Minarelli AM 6 engine.
I still have my old Aprilia RS 50 from 1998. This uses a minarelli AM 5 engine, but in some other countries the AM6.
With 26mm carb, good exhaust and 76cc cylinder, it pushes around 120-125kph. Fun stuff!
And speaking of 175cc;
A good friend of mine still has his Yamaha DT175 from the late seventies, or was it early eighties..???
It's a nice and very fun bike!
