Title: four stroke owners...
Post by: monsteryz125 on March 21, 2011, 12:58:30 PM
Alright so this happened a few weeks ago between me and a friend who loves 4 strokes, i was trying to explain why a 2 stroke is a superior type of engine and why my 125 will smoke his crf150r so he told me when he gets the 250r he'd smoke my 125 so i told him id get a yz 250 and itd be cc to cc he said no he'd buy a 450 if he was going to race a 250 2 stroke so i told him id get my hands on a 500 with old technology and he said it wouldnt be fair, i asked why and he said because id have a bigger displacement..

I think we should leave the "he sounds just like a..." discussions out of this, simply because anyone can take that line just about anywhere they want.  But ultimately, all it can accomplish is to piss someone off eventually, and we've had enough of that lately.  We've had less flame wars per capita than most forums on the internet, and I think that if we do have a zinger again it should be about something important like displacement rules or Maico imports, and not political views.

With that said, I think if the bike blows up and it's really labor-intensive to fix, you should charge him for it.  Not much, not as much as any bike shop would, but something along the lines of, "Jesus, this is going to take forever.  I could do it for you for free if it was a small job, but this is just too much.  A bike shop would do it for X, I'll do it for 10% of that, how's that sound?"

Thats a really good idea, the xr im doin had the exhaust valve hit the piston, never wouldve happened with a 2 stroke but im not gonna bust his balls about it cause its his old bike he rides a 250xc now, about mr i love 4 strokes he rode my yz down the road yesterday and came back with a huge smile but he still wont listen and buy a 2 stroke
