Title: Leaking Watercooled Heads
Post by: opfermanmotors on March 04, 2011, 11:57:12 AM
The old style watercooling heads had some paper mache around crush metal.  Unfortunately, these are prone to leak if they cannot be fitted perfectly as heads do warp.  I may go and shave the head, had to do that with my Cr500, but what are some tried and true other methods of creating a seal?  I know some have used types of sealent, I tried Honda Bond HT unsuccessfully though, still leaked.  I have heard of silver spraypaint on the head gasket as well to create a bond.

You need some Copper Coat. Get it at advance auto or anywhere like that.
It's made for your problem. :)

It's good stuff. It comes out like a thick spray paint, seals well :)

Yep, Copper Coat. I keep a can on hand. Works great for those crush gaskets like you are talking about.
