David Knight vs Gee Atherton , downhill bike vs enduro moto (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqBy1R7IMGE#ws)
Guess he should have been riding a 2 stroke! Must suck to be beaten by a mountain bike.
-
He would have been quicker on a 125.
-
So a 4 stroke is even slow going downhill?
-
You might have thought all that extra weight would have helped. :P
-
Well he didnt want to risk losing the good bike. So he rode the crappy bike just in case he lost. So he wouldnt care.
-
What a cool video, that was good skills by both those guys. gnarly course, would've suited the 2t for sure.
-
He would have been quicker on a 125.
I agree. Cool video though.

Coming from a dh mtb racing background, and now moto, I can tell you that for Knight to be that close to Gee is flat out amazing. Its also Gee's home course in which he holds the fastest time on. If Knighter was on a smaller bike I bet the times would have been closer.

My son is a national caliber downhill mtb'r and, having gone to some of the races,it is flat out amazing how fast these guys go.At one race the competitors were literally ricocheting of trees airborne down the course.Oh to be 18 again!
In the video it is plain to see that DK is fighting the weight of that 4T lump coming into every corner. Why he didn't ride a 250XC is beyond me. :-X
-
I think it's because Knight is contracted to ride the 450/530 4strokes.
Would have been better if KTM got Taddy Blazusiak to do it with his 250 ...or 300 maybe.
-
i think Dk lost before he even started,
becouse the dude with the dh bike knew the track very well.
i did dh ,4cross and freeride with bike
now i race motocross.
so i know both of them :P
-
Why didn't they finish it off? That race proves nothing.Let's see them turn around and go back up :)
-
That was ridiculously close and really shows how good David Knight is.
On a track way to tight for a large dirt bike, one he had likely never ridden before (and at least the mountain biker knew a hell of a lot better) he got within 2% of Atherton's time (291 seconds compared with 296 seconds).
Seriously impressive from Knight, he doesn't need a two stroke, he just needs one more chance to run the track again.
