The Diesels in my boat are four stroke but I have a good excude since two stroke Diesels need superchargers just to run.

Yeah, two-stroke diesels are a completely different technology from gas two-strokes - as evidenced by the cams and valves.

Love that first commercial, though!

Ha ha,I have to show the first video to my 4T buddies.

The 2T "Jimmy" Detroit diesels were supercharged with port induction and poppet valve/cam exhaust.

I was talking to an oldtimer and he said the small Honda 4T outboards never started when you wanted them to.

I was mostly thinking of the big gnarly diesels alter the Earth's rotation with their mass. ;)

A closer description on that type of engine would be HCCI, interesting stuff (for me that is).

And the American's get called rednecks. ;)

Americans are rednecks who design redneck toys, like the big V8s and that diesel.  Aussies and Kiwis are rednecks who take the American-designed redneck toys, and slather another coat of red on the neck.

My cousin was the field engineer for Sulzer. He was constantly flying around the world taking care of their ship diesels.I toured the plant once in Winterthur,Switzerland (landlocked nation - go figure!) and recall two story tall scaffolding used to assemble the powerplants. :D

Yeah worked on those Sulzers back in the day, maybe I've worked with your cousin when he came to visit!!  :D Had a tour of the Winterthur plant  in 96 but sadly they moved production out and got taken over by Wartsila. Sulzer had by far the best medium speed diesels with rotating pistons which kept thermal expansion and wear more even!  8)
