Too cool!  Back in 2000 or 2001 I went to Budds Creek for some February races.  Since we were still under snow here on the mountain where I live.  I ran a 250cc class & a vet class.  In both classes there were full gates.  People from New York, New Jersey, Delaware, PA, Ohio & of course Maryland.  Everyone trying to get a jump on their competition for the coming season.  My one buddy that was with me went to the line with me.  His kid was racing instead of him.  He leaned over & yelled in my ear on the line to look at all the 4 strokes & how I was going to get eaten alive.  3 or 4 2 strokes in each class probably.  It was way cold.  And his remark didn't help my mental state after Jonathan Beasley promised good weather after my 5 hour drive.  It was barely 34 degrees.  I actually holeshot all 4 motos.  Very unlike me.  Although from that day on my holeshots improved tremendously.

HA! That is the best! This would be a good bike for Soubeyras!

-
Didn't I get yelled at once for hinting that such a thing might be possible?

-
If you did get yelled at Jetz, you're in the clear now. This guy put that old CR right out front both motos and kept it there.

i had to resurrect this post after riding yesterday.  i was at AV motoplex in lancaster ca. there was a guy riding a cr250 from the same era as the o.p.
his bike had conventional forks and a drum rear brake!  the guy was haulin' ass.  he was clearing every jump including some tricky triples and was one of the fastest out there.  it was a trip to see him railing berms and passing everyone.
i've been wanting a new bike, but he put it into perspective.  90% rider, 10% bike.

I think it;s funny how snowed the goons in that forum are by the garbage that TWMX, and Racer X fill thier heads with.
they are all probly sitting at their computer wearing the same outfits they put together from the ads in those rags, typing, "it has to be Photoshopped....." while in the back of their minds are all trying to figure out why, after they spent $1000 for a titanium & carbonfiber exhaust system that is still 114db, for thier state of the art 4strokes, thier lap times are slower than before they put the pipe on.
