i was just wondering now john is no longer running this site - whether project 250 will still be moving forward and competing in 2010 or if it has been shelved?

They decided to just wait until 2003 to compete :)

Thats a good question. I am still trying to plan everything out.
I am taking care of several things right now and am buried at my desk.
We definately plan on a racing team for 2012, as for the 2011 Pro season I am not sure. There are quite a few things still up in the air.
'Project 250' was transfered with TSM, but I am not sure if it will be changed or not.
What do you guys think? Keep it Project 250, or start fresh?
-
Charles, I would say do what you think will work. My knowledge of Project 250 is what I read on here. It seemed as though it was expensive and didn't accomplish what it set out to do. It got a lot of support, in the form of positive comments on this website, because it was a gutsy thing at the time.
As a reader, I hope you secure some more advertising and revenue streams. That will ensure this site stays up. This site is a little beacon of light and I sure want it to be around.
-
Well, I'm not really one to follow in someone elses footsteps..
I'm pretty sure we will be starting from scratch.
John did a great job getting this site to a respectable point with a great group of people.
Advertising has started with many plans happening all the time.
Good things to come, thank you guys for the support!
-
If it is in 2012, then we can call it "Project 2-Maicos" (125 and 250).

He said 2012. Not 2022 ;)
-
I say get cedric on board and then you will see some great results.
-
Yeah, from everything I have seen and heard, definitely start from scratch. To get another two stroke on the line and to be successful, I think you would want to re-create the passion and excitement Project two 50 had, but not try to carry the burden of an unsuccessful attempt at qualifying for a national. Project two 50 was great for us two stroke fans and the guys tried their hearts out, but it unfortunately gave the four stroke die hards further proof that the two stroke is uncompetitive under the current AMA rules. We can, if done correctly, give hope to all two stroke fans by getting two strokes qualified and lining up for the main races.
Any one know what Brian Schukhart is doing. That guys is a bad ass on his two strokes, and it seems he was basically riding stock standard bikes the last couple of years. Get him behind our cause, and get the ball rolling !!
;D
-
I say, if Burn's petition gets through we should ditch Project Two-50 and start with Project 300! That would not only give a better chance of winning, but it would draw attention to the rule change and help normalize the 300 two-stroke in the sport.
-

I would be all over that! ;D
-
I say do what feels right to you and make sure you have a rider on the West coast! :P
-
I'd say move it to a country that has parity in the classes, and kick some arse!!
-
Most definitely. Bring it down under and stir things up. I have enough connections and bikes, if there is any rider good enough to battle for a lites National championship. PJ Larsen won it this year. Would be even better to see a two stroke win it next year. I am sure EVO would help out also!! Any takers ??
-
yeah bring it down here to oz. robbie marshall has been getting his yz250 up there in the super x, would be good to see another 2 banger up there too
-

yeah exactly here in uk we have the red bull pro nationals and in the 250 class we race 4 and 2 strokes together - perfect line up to race in
-
Something to think about. If 150 and 300 doesn't pass... Watching Cedric, and using their opinion on the outdoors, using a 250 2 stroke would definitely serve us better in the SX series. First and foremost, the sound indoors would be better. The chance to qualify is definitely better, and that beautiful smell is trapped in the dome. 8) I still say to this day, DV would have qualified and done well had his CR250 been set up correct. Nothing against Lucky, because I actually know him personally, rode for a low tier sponsorship they offered. Anyways, it's just not the same as the good stuff and good setup like Pro Circuit or something like that. I just think the 250 could have done better on it's last chance, before being put out to pastuer, but there wasn't a well setup bike out on the track. He had all kinds of problems hooking up etc. The year before he got like 3rd or something in the series. If you remember right, from that year, his results were anything but spectacular when he switched to 450F's. It wasn't which bike, it was the setup....

I have been thinking along those lines as well. ;D
If you could get a well known rider down here with the proper backing, ie (Factory support) on a KTM/TM in the Lites class that would mix thing up quite well.
DK won a race early in the year on his YZ over in OZ.
I think that would get the smoker back in the eyes of the public & media.
Small steps.

I'll throw my hand up to be in this project if it ever comes to Aus. Recently we were approached by a few riders who race MX about sponsoring them (as we are considering entering that market) however I was a little put off to see all of them on "250f's".
You have to wonder if any of these younger guys have spent any time at all on a 2 stroke at all.
I reckon we need to start a conglomerate of businesses and other interested parties on 2 stroke motorcross (who all obviously share the same passion) about supporting a rider and bike in a series where cc for cc rules apply. If the right people were involved I'd be more than happy to invest a bit of money as well as offer support in terms of products and expertise where applicable.
-
Ill come to Aus and ride it for ya!!!! Always wanted to come to Australia!

There we go theres the answer right there ;D ;D

I really want to ride for two stroke motocross.. except I suck at riding, so I would prolly give the site a bad rep. I guess I can contribute with articles like I did once in the past, but I was just wondering, can you make a two stroke motocross graphics kit?
-
We have Two Stroke Motocross graphics kits :D

Really? where can I purchase one?
-
I need some new graphics and shrouds for my 125... Swiped a fence and cracked the right shroud.. Do I have to go to a site like Decal Works and make my own graphics with the TSM logo in it? Cause I saw an article where someone did that... Or do you guys have some we can purchase? Cause I'm not the only one willing to buy!

I think Watson has his own business making decals.
-
black heart mx does decals with 3 free logos if i remeber right
-
yes we just started our own graphics company since it isn't looking like work is going to pick up anytime soon. My wife has been doing this for 5 years now and we are taking our savings and hoping it works!! We will have them available with in the next 3 weeks. The 2 Stoke motocross graphics will be semi-customizable. You will be able to to adjust your base color, background color for # plates and of course your racing # and you will also be able to add all of your own sponsor logos. In addition we are the only graphics company in the industry that is capable of printing over 500 metallic colors! :-)
-
Watson777 I just wanted you nothing buth success in your venture. Good luck, I hope you get so busy, you have to turn work away... 8)
-
sounds interesting are you making graphics for a ktm 85? and do you have a web site to check out pictures?
-
Watson777,
As I'm sure you will but, please let us know when you're up and running the new buisness. I'll be in the market for TSM graphics for my
YZ.
Best of success to you.
-

Our website is not finished yet but you can check out our facebook page. just search illusion-graphics on there and you can see the stuff we have done so far.

That wasn't the final proof on the star struck in cmyk but thanks!
-
Just uploaded a few more to Facebook
-
Lookin nice. How well do they stick? What type of material is used for graphics?

Oh, and do you happen to know Jake Anstett? I noticed he was on the friend list for Illusion.
-
Thats one sweet looking YZ No. 484 8)
Even ford might like that. :P
-
Yep I race with Jake quite often or at least I did when I was racing all the time. The vinyl is the same stuff one industries uses. Highest gloss available and 2mm thicker than most all the other companies.
-
How much in the ball park range for a 2001 cr 125?
-

Jake used to come over to my dad's house and ride all the time when he was on his Yz85. He endoed pretty good in my old whoop section too haha. Our dad's have been friends forever. Those sound like some high quality graphics.
-
Should make some old maico graphics
-
custom graphics are available 8)
-
can you beat $46.00 for a number set?
-
Those question types (how much $$) are probably better sent through PM. I am not being a moderator Nazi and won't be deleting anything, haha. I just think Devin might be more comfortable talking prices on the side until he is fully up and running. Heck I could be wrong though :)
-
please don't take this the wrong way but I am not gonna do the price match game. We are just getting going and cant really do a ton of discounts right off the bat. That is not meant to come across rudely so sorry if it does. Pre-printed backgrounds will most likely run $60. Or I think we decided on $45 for a "simple series" for pre printed backgrounds.
-
No i hear ya, I dont mean to come across as a cheap skate either lol. The shop I get stuff from says if I include their shop name in any graphics/numbers they can get it to me for 46 just seeing if there was incentive to switch and try out a new graphics company I.e. yours especially since you support and ride two strokes. But as a college kid I have to save pretty much every penny so the 14 dollars helps for sure! Cool stuff though man if they're not too much I deff dont mind running some swing arm decals or fork guards with your company name on there I'll deff spread the word down here in tx!
-
ya... ill talk to the wife and see if we can get a set to you for a little cheaper its just hard when we are just starting out..... i appreciate you wanting to support us and i totally understand needing to go where you can get the best deals.
-
This is some of what is available for Maico.

The stickers are thick and come off tho. Don't have number plate, we just have sideplate and tank graphics.

I don't know what could make it cool looking, still retro and maico looking graphics :)
-
I don't think we have any templates for Maico's. I would have to buy a set of those ones you posted for sale so I could make a templates
-
ya... ill talk to the wife and see if we can get a set to you for a little cheaper its just hard when we are just starting out.....
My only advice is that logic is a double edge sword. You are just starting out and need to give people a reason to try a new no-name company. That generally occurs by giving deals or offering something nobody does.
-
Yea I know we have to give deals to get our name out and we are not opposed to doing that. I agree with you 110%, my point was just that if we do that for every single person that says they can get them cheaper we will never make enough to put back into the company to help ourselves grow. I suppose its 6 in one and a 1/2 dozen in another..........
-
I agree. That is why I don't envy you in today's economy :D. I sincerely wish you the best of luck and anyone I hear looking for graphics will get pointed your way. Shoot my your web site when it's up and I will put it on my facebook. Every little bit will help to get your name out there!
-
Thanks, it is greatly appreciated!

Same.

It is a double edged sword like you say though, if you charge cheap always ppl expect it to always be cheap. Also, ppl may think the quality is like China products if its cheap where as if it's higher price, nicer looking and great quality ppl would pay the extra cost. Now, note that is all a general statement, I hvae no idea how it would apply to motorcycle graphics, especially wih the economy, perhaps for this product that doesn't hold true, I don't know.
