They barely showed the 2-stroke guy riding. I wonder why more of them don't race a two stroke, expecially in SuperX? Heck, with Yamaha and Suzuki, the 2-strokes should dominate.

Just to give you guys a bit more info, there are some top guys who are riding 250 two strokes, Marshall will be good, and should be up front, but there a few others I expect will do very well also.  I spoke to one of the top Pro's this afternoon who rode press day and said the track is very stop, start, and will suit the 250 two stroke guys. Particularly one section where the the 450 guys, and guys riding 250 two strokes will be able to quad, but the guys on 250F's will never be able to quad. Can not wait for the racing to start tomorrow arvo. I will hopefully be flying down for the first round, and I will keep you guys updated on all the two stroke action !!!!!!!

thats all?

the 2 bangers not doing much damage in the lite class? So why the hell we are not allowed to compete in the AMA with the same displacements rules! So frustrating.........The sport is really sad right now. All I can hear is the tractors.. the last decade in MX is just a big fail. Almost as gay as watching Nascrap on Speed. Special thanks goes to MX sports and the AMA Pro racing.

It's amazing that 4-strokes still beat the 2-strokes even though they had a horsepower disadvantage. You would think that a 2-stroke would dominate.

an update fellas, the rm250 got 1 holeshot and 1 second to the first corner, beaten by a team suzuki rm250z..

You gotta remember these are factory bikes these two stroke guys are racing against. It is not too hard to get big horsepower from a 250F, its just expensive to maintain the bikes to keep them running at that optimum level. The race teams have the budget to do this. I can tell you that both those two strokes that are circulating, that those bikes are not far removed from stock bikes. Only minimal work to both motors and chassis.

There's the difference.  Factory bikes "should" dominate regardless of displacement.  Its a uphill battle in the pro ranks, but in the amateur series, you'll see the smoker come out on top.

You would think the smoker would come out on top, but at Loretta Lynns it got dominated by 4-bangers. Just sayin

That is cuzz most of the top riders in amatuers are riding 4strokes. If one of them would ride a 2 stroke they would win on it.

I find that most people ride 4 strokes because "its what every one els is riding" or "the pros ride then so they must be better"

They have no idea how horribly mistaken they are. At least until they have a 250 2 banger fly past their 250f on a straitaway

I wonder what the homologation rules are for Australia. It would be neat to see TMs, Huskys, and Maicos over there tearing it up.

Homologation wouldn't be a problem. We dont seem to have anywhere near the influence of the major manufacturers like the US does. The fact is that it would be very hard to get support from these "exotic" manufacturers. Any racer going out to race at the top level is usually, at the very least, looking to get heavily discounted, or free bikes on race plan, with, if possible, a parts budget, or heavily discounted parts. Getting this support from TM, Maico etc would be difficult. I would love to see it as much as anyone, but it unfortunately wont happen at the pro level in this economic climate, and the current status those "exotic" manufacturers have. At the amateur level, then definitely, they are already out there !!

also the guys running the two strokes arent really podium contenders. both kim and robbie are fast but would still not win even on a factory 4 stroke.

as stated above, while the top pro's are running 4 strokes, they will win, on amatuer days the two stroke may win but as in every test i have read where they compare the 2T and 4T they all say that the 4T is easier to get the most consistent lap times. the 2T may run the same times or quicker but not as consistantly.

if the development that has gone into the 4T's over the last couple years in relation to suspension and chassis went into the 2T's then i would say the 2T's would be much faster. however the fact remains that 4T's hook up and get their power to the ground much better than a 2T and that in itself can be what makes them faster.

i would love to see one of the yamaha or suzuki factory boys run a 2T at one round and see how it goes but i doubt it will happen.

That would be amazing to see, but unfortunately, it will not happen.

Imagine seeing Matt Moss on an RM 250. That would be awesome !!
