Cycle News just released its very last issue.

Quote from Cycle News: "The last issue has just been printed yesterday and it is the end of an era for sure. However, ever since the innovations done to the 4 Stroke for motocross and the extinction of the 2 Stroke modern motorcyling is so boring that our magazines were just being perscribed by doctors for insomnia. Just as we print our last issue we believe manufactuers should just build their last bikes."

I got a tweet yesterday that Dungey typed saying he was honored and proud to be on the final cover. That statement is very interesting though.
-
I thought this was a joke for a second, but damn, it's real. I bet a statement like that is going to get a little attention.
-
Sounds like an accurate statement.

Damm they were like the bible to motorcycling, On another note dose anyone know what Rodger D. is going to do? Maybe go help out Maico???????????? that would be to cool
-
When I first read the OP I thought it was some kind of joke (April Fools in Sptember??)
It's very sad... is that really a quote from someone at the publication?? If so, could you please let me know the source, so I can write up an article on the main site.
Thank you!

Sorry, Cycle News really is closing, but I made up the quote as a joke :)

Not funny...

I giggled :)

Bad news for the entire motorcycle industry. Lots of bad news since the 4T takeover! I also heard DeCoster is going to KTM. Hopefully he'll help the 2T models.

Remind me to feed your neck into the rear sprocket of one of your Maicos next time I see you. Preferably in fifth gear with the throttle opened to its stop.
-
thats a little harsh, I think delivery was the problem. What you could of said was: What they really meant in this article was "insert text here".
-
I thought you made the quote up, your funny.Cycle news closing not funny, I let my subscription go in 07, it was just 4-st. in the coverage. Anyone see one of the issues from the last few months, the paper was about as thick as a quarter, I knew they where in trouble.

The biggest nail in the coffin for Cycle News (and many other publications going into the future) is that the news on the Internet is so good and instantaneous. Why wait 3 days or a week to find out what happened on Sunday when you can in some cases watch the vent live on television and get all the results in real time?
If they don't offer something of value to the customer, they will lose customers.
The world changed around them and Cycle News stayed the same. Not a recipe for growth.
In fact that's whats happening to the jobs and our country... things have changed, you've got to change in order to survive.
