Title: Spark Amplifier?
Post by: RM250 Evan on January 04, 2011, 08:49:11 PM
Hey has any1 here tried using a spark amplifier like ibooster? Kinda pricey for such a simple piece but could be worth it.

TWMX just did a how to video of it.

My thoughts are a fool and his money are easily parted. There is a diode and a resistor in that putrid pile of snake oil, about a $3 worth of electronic components. Used to be called iCAT they foolishly applied for a patent and the jig was up then. How that bloke can keep a straight face in that video he should be nominated for an academy award.

If you want something that really does work (and is dyno proven) try a Denso IW01-27/29 plug.

someone was telling me about some weird spark plug, instead of an electrode and a spark it had a crystal or something that would just glow to make ignition and supposidly it won't carbon up or foul and supposed to last a long time.  Haven't seen one and I forget what name he said they were.  Ever heard of such a thing?

There are plasma ignitions , fouling is down to jetting and ignition.

I say for ignition they should just put a little spike on the piston and then have a mechanism that feeds in a series of percussion caps, like they use to fire the gunpowder in ammo cartridges, particularly for the four-strokes.  Looks bad-ass, gives the manufacturers more moving parts to replace and make money on, and you can put a "450 Magnum" sticker on your bike and tell your friends about how much power you have now.  And the best part is, you can just remove the normal ignition system from your bike, which you don't want anyway because it works using quantum gibberish and magic, and that sounds scary.

Honestly though, when I saw the title of this thread I thought it would be about a device that does the opposite of a spark arrestor.  :-[

Brisk Plugs is what I was talking about, there are several weird formats they have.  Here is one that says works on an RM 400.
