I realize that just because something is cheap doesn't always mean that it is. Has anyone had any experience with Amsoil Interceptor 2 cycle full synthetic? It is much cheaper, and is claimed to be much cleaner for my power valves, as well as provide better protection under more extreme circumstances, as opposed to my Castor 927. (which really is awesome stuff)
Suggested ratio is 50:1. Currently I mix 32:1 in all of my bikes. This is probably a worn out question, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Interceptor is supposed to be a quality oil. I use it in my KDX at 50-1, but use 927 in my race bike at 32-1. 927 is not bad for the powervalve. Mine always looks mint, and clean at 32-1.
Rule of thumb for me, light use, trail or woods, 40 or 50-1. Racing 32-1. I don't care what oil it is.

I'd have to agree with you. I haven't torn the cylinders off either bike to inspect power valve gumming yet after using the 927. Maybe that would depend more on the owner/rider jetting preferences etc. I would like to use the amsoil because of the price for the amount. I'm no pro by any means, but my bikes are alway at the track and pinned. Maybe I'll try it and see what's what. Thanks for the feedback.

I use Amsoil Interceptor 2 cycle full synthetic. I run it for a few reasons...
1.) it's widely available to me locally
2.) I prefer a full synthetic
3.) it's widely available to me locally 
The tech in today's oils are far above what we used back in the day... Just about any brand of 2 stroke oil will be fine. For me personally I prefer a full synthetic, others prefer dino oil. The best advise I can give to to pick a brand that's available to you, jet accordingly, and let her rip... Please be aware you may need to adjust jetting if switching oils.

While we're on the topic, is it true that if you switch from synthetic oil back to mineral oil it will screw your engine over? but switching from mineral to synthetic is fine apparently. Is this true? if so, why?

No it's not true. Mixing some synthetics with some mineral oils can cause engine damage. Some oils just don't mix. Oil manufacturers usually suggest not mixing different oils together because the integrity of one or the other may be compromised. The engine won't know the difference as long as the oil that's in it is doing its job. But in the tranny case? maybe the clutch plates? They absorb and hold oil. But the amount that they hold may not be enough to make a "mixing" difference? I don't know.That's where my decision making issue lies. WHICH ONE do I decide on?!!
It will be Amsoil dominator for now I suppose.

Well then in that case I owe the guy at the local Super Cheap Auto a solid kick up the arse. I honestly didn't buy it and was fairly confident he was just saying that cos the synthetic is more expensive, but it was the first time I ever bought oil for the bike and it was getting dropped off that arvo so I wasn't super keen to blow up the engine and decided not to risk it

If you think about that for a sec.... It's the same in reverse. Unless there's some science to this, which if there is I'll stand corrected, I would have to say he might not be well informed. I've done a lot of reading on this subject out of curiosity, and picked up some good advice a long the way. Once I've done that I like to get feed back from other riders using products. Even still sometimes I can't make a decision.

I've kept it simple throughout the years , ran Pro-Honda hp2 syn in all my bikes for the 10+years . i've never been told you cant switch back once you got to synthetic but as long as you stick with a good brand and mixture ratio your doing the right thing for your bike In my opinion

they do make semi-synthetic oil that is already mixed for you, however all synthetics are not created equal. Ester-based oils frequently do not mix with mineral oil, which is why some oils should not be mixed. If you do mix oils stay with your regular mix ratio.

Nah I don't mix oils. All that dude said was if its been running synthetic oils you can't go back to mineral. Yeah... Cos the fact that synthetic oil is 10 bucks more expensive than mineral wouldn't have anything to do with you saying that would it **** stain?
