Title: 03 yz250. top end rebuild
Post by: jordan83 on February 23, 2010, 04:33:07 PM
blew the base gasket out of my 03 yz250. while its apart im gona go ahead and throw new piston and rings in. my question is after i took the cylinder off i found that my rod has some back and forth  play at the crank bearing. no up and down play. is the side to side play normal? Thanks

Some side-to-side play is normal. The manual will give you the allowable runout specs for the big-end rod bearing.

you use a feeler gauge. You want to get yourself a workshop manual, it'll tell you everything you need in detailed steps.
