saw a TSM tweet that they are looking to hire a ten to fiftennth place rider. i am saying it now brethren... tyla "styla" rattray!
-
He won a championship a few years ago didn't he? When did ME/PC/Kawasaki drop him? He ripped.
-
after this season he is up for signing. he is kind of a forgotten soldier over here and with not so many teams looking to hire a struggling vet or spots to be hired at i see him as our new brethren.
-
Na,I heard it on FB first
Cole Thompson.Charles knows who he is.
-
he'd be a good one, but i'm afraid its tyla, a rider capable of 10-15 and a rider who knows how to test. its the perfect match. just wish he was a yank.
-
What ever happen to malcolm stewart?
-
you will see m stewart back with troy lee he's that hot right now.
-
I would love to see Rattray back on a KTM. He was at his best back when he rode for KTM.
-
i say go after michael byrne. he rode a factory KX back in 04 05 to top ten results. but that was ten years ago....that makes me feel old....haha
-
I'd love to see a young up and comer like Thompson but the reality of it is,that guy would likely want to be on the 4t.
It's more likely to get an older guy who's best days are behind him that would still like to generate some attention.
It should be pretty cool either way.I can't wait to see what happens.

As long as the economy keeps sucking, which it is. the fallout is things and toys like MX racing are and will be taking a hit. And TSM benefits from that big time in finding a top 10 rider. Just look at Andrew Short who is a top 10 in both Indoor and outdoor and ended up with KTM his third team this season because of the teams crashing out of funds. You don't like to see it, But it benefits the whole two stroke agenda which we all know. I say Will Hahn out of Texas who races both 2 and 4 stroke.

You mean Wil Hahn, as in "2013 250 supercross champ" Wil Hahn?
-
Yes you are totally correct.
-
Tyla will be on a KTM next year, but on a factory 450 back in Europe.
Wil Hahn has a ride next year as team mate to Eli Tomac out of a 2nd Geico semi. Although Wil has a 125 he's rebuilding for himself I don't believe he's raced a 2-stroke since super minis.
Realistic guys who would be willing to ride 2-strokes for some money and score points in my opinion? Robby Marshall (obviously), Jake Canada, Vince Friese, Cole Thompson, Mike Lieb, and Austin Howell.
-
How about Weston Peick?
-
Get Brett Cue on a smoker FFS!!!!
-

Hell yeah Weston Peick would be perfect. So much natural talent it's crazy, and a realistic chance of being able to sign him.

but none of these riders meet the criteria for 450 nationals.
-
shawn show me proof that tyla is going to europe. peick is a good one but untill otherwise its tyla.

unfortunately i don't think Que has the speed, sure he can whip a bike like no tomorrow
then again ive never seen him race, but i don't think he has qualifying level of speed
-
Hey I'm open to offers
Just kidding. I like Rattray alot. Good guy, and has proven VERY fast once he is in his zone.

According to On Track Off Road who is the main media source for the GPs his name is part of the retooled factory Husky lineup for next year, which will basically be a mirror of the KTM team. Adam Wheeler is a guy who would know, and Matthes over here confirms he is being told the same thing.
And I agree none of those guys are consistent 10-15 material, but that's who's available that has a history of scoring points and might be willing to race a 2-stroke. Here's the top 15 in the championship so far, who from this list is willing to part with their current factory supported team to ride a 2-stroke.
1. Ryan Villopoto
2. Ryan Dungey
3. Justin Barcia
4. James Stewart
5. Trey Canard
6. Mike Alessi
7. Andrew Short
8. Jake Weimer
9. Broc Tickle
10. Josh Grant
11. Malcolm Stewart
12. Chad Reed
13. Phil Nicoletti
14. Tyla Rattray
15. Justin Brayton
-
damn it! good sources, but nothing in ink yet. good work shawn.
-
File this under "Not gunna happen..." but Chad Reed fits the bill...
1. Vet
2. Two-stroke experience
3. Knows how to win (even if he thinks he is too old to do so)

x2 I was gonna suggest this but wasn't prepared to deal with the flak.
Reed was one of the three to watch in his YZ250 days. Awesome, positively awesome to watch particularly in supercross.

As far as we know anyway, these deals don't get announced usually until the previous contract is up. But I imagine Mitch and PC don't want him back next year so they would allow him to shop around early. I do agree either he or Phil Niccoletti are the two free riders who would make an impact. But I believe everyone else in the top 15 is spoken for or could get on a bike capable of winning.
-
What about Kale Makeham over is Aussie land? He is running a solid second in the points on a YZ-250 in the 250 class.
