Title: Rumors confirmed?
Post by: Two Stroke Todd on April 23, 2011, 01:43:16 PM
While attending a local race last weekend i heard an interesting rumor that Suzuki was bringing back the 125 for 2012. This led me to make a few phone calls and not only have i found out that this very likely but was told that suzuki will have RM85s RM125s AND RM250s back in the states next year! This comes straight from what is probably the largest and biggest name in suzukis in the north east Jeff Cernic. I really hope its true cause if it is i see a new 125 for the kid and a new 250 for dad in my future.

Future will tell.
I really love the RM 125 and 250 line.
And it's great stuff for the 2 Stroke choosers wich are looking for a good 2 Stroke.
I hope Suzuki will continue the RM's.

Ive never ridden an RM but ive heard alot of good things about their handling, even they wouldnt be my first choice for a new smoker the more manufactuers producing 2 strokes for the U.S. the better

this would be very cool, as this would put pressure on Honda and Kawasaki to produce 2t's again. However, is this rumor valid? There is another thread with people that were told that Suzuki was bailing on 2t's?

If you like that YZ you would love an RM 125. They dont run as good as a Yamaha but they will turn under one in a heartbeat.

i hope thats true, i took my buddies '11 suzuki rmz 250 out to the track last week and I was impressed, but it stalled easily. i would rather have a suzuki 2 stroke 250, if i ever strayed away from yamaha

I was planning on a 250sx for my next bike but if suzuki brings back the RMs and the handling is really that good i may just be getting an RM next year, and yes i love my YZ :-)

I really, really, really hope this is true! I decided to switch my thumper to a brand new RM250 for this season, and that is probably the best decision I've made in my career. The bike is awesome, it handles so much better than a four stroke, it saves my energy in long motos etc... I was kinda sceptic at first when my dad suggested this, but right now I'm not even considering about riding a four stroke again in a while. So all I can say is that RM's are such a great bikes, and I'm really hoping that I could still buy another one of those in the future! Long live 2-strokes!

I asked this question on Vital. We'll see if anyone confirms it or not. I had to use some of Twostroke Todd's verbage.

I've heard a lot of words used towards Cernic over the years, but false rumor spreader was never among them  :) .

Even though I have zero plans to buy a new bike until at least 2-3 years, I hope it's true.

Well originally I just assumed they were from a non US speaking country. But now I see two members with different names are posting the same thing and a quick search shows other forums banning the same user name/IP address, I think I will handle it. Thanks for the reminder.

Hey Burn. i saw your post on Vital and also the responses it was gettin. this led me to reconfirm with my contacts if the info given to me was firsthand and honest. I called up the my contact who is the manager of a very large and motocross heavy local dealer that personally knows mr cernic. he promised me that he himself spoke directly to Jeff Cernic and Jeff cernic told him that it was very likely to happen. I have no reason to believe he is being dishonest or misleading with me. I asked him if he ever went on vital he said no but he may check it out and chime in tommorow. So there you have it for what its worth.
                                                                                                                                      Sincerly, TWO STROKE TODD

PS if you wanna talk hit me up at rodspindel@comcast.net we can exchange info!   PSS Two Stroke Motocross Fest Sept 17-18th at Sleepy Hollow MX spread the word!

Cool, Todd.

There is some real tension over 2-strokes right now. Everyone senses they are getting ramroded with 4-stroke propaganda crap, and that 2-strokes are disappearing. The thought of having a company import brand new 2-strokes is intoxicating to everyone, especially the thought of new RMs. Vital is definitely entertaining and is a good cross section of local motocross and what the general public wants to see. If only there was a way to get the OEMs to see the market possibilities of this.

Oh well. . .

I'm kind of beginning to believe it... (not about the CR's though) because I don't see nearly as many Suzuki cars as I see Honda cars out and about. I see a lot more Honda products in general, this would mean that motocross is a bigger chunk of the budget for Suzuki than it is for Honda. And if they decide that two strokes will give them that boost they will sure as heck bring them right back. But this leaves the question; what about Kawasaki? I see very very few Kawasaki products. Motocross has to be a larger chunk of the budget for Kawasaki than it is for Suzuki... So Kawasaki should be the ones bringing it back first, or they have just concluded to themselves that they will not profit from bringing back the smokers. Therefor if Suzuki does do it, Kawasaki will follow, and hopefully Honda will eventually come back as well. All we really need though, is Yamaha to update their bikes. They will sell like crack. The domino's are set.

There is a big difference between Kawasaki & Suzuki.
Suzuki is a Motor Company making Cars, Bikes & Motors. It is what they do & how they make a profit.

Kawasaki is a Heavy Industry Company making Trains , Ships & Aerospace equipment.
The motorcycle side of the business is very small part of the company and not where they make most of their money.

So it would make more sense for Suzuki to release a 2 stroke if it will improve there bottom line.
It is not as important for Kawasaki.

Heres a link to Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

Hello. Yes i wrote that topic about two stroke Suzuki. I'm not 100% sure what is happening or has already occurred. But somehow i start to believe what Finland's distributor told me about future of two stroke Suzuki.

Let's all hope so!  I have been a dedicated RM 250 rider for over 20 years.  Even if they released it with zero changes it would still be completely competitive.  Once you get these bikes dialed in there is not much else to do except ride and maintain.  Like most bikes these days the bikes usually have much more potential that the rider sitting on them... myself included! ;D

I haven't really heard much about Suzuki revamping the RM. I've heard they are discontinuing it :( I'm really hoping they keep the bike alive.
