The bike is from 2002.. I'm not using a bigbore-kit like athena or something, I'm going to bore the stock cylinder with help from a local shop who's doing that kind of engine work.. I've got the newer crank from rm125 04-10 couse wiseco does'nt produce 58mm pistons for the 01-03 RM..

When I get the piston its time to modify the crank to make clearence for the larger 58mm piston.. Need to check out the clearence for the exhaust valve too, does anyone know if this is a problem when you big bore the rm:s? Have read all info on Eric Gorr's webpage but I didn't find any info about that...

We would also do some cylinder porting for mid-top.. A V-force3 reed valve will help the bottom too..

Sweeeeettttt. 8) I think when you order those pistons you should order 2-one for the bike and one to sit on the bench to look at :o 8)

The HGS pipe needs to bee blown out!  ;D

You must  ride  really  rocky  tracks,  the  HGS  pipe  is  alot  thicker  than  a  pc  or fmf.  I   had  a  HGS   and   a  PC  pipe  on my  01 RM125,  the  HGS  had  a  much  bigger  increase  in  torque  and  hp.  Sharp  lookin  Rm ,  I,m  sure  it rips.

The bike is from 2002..

Are you sure? '02 had a tapered swingarm. Your swingarm looks like an '01.  Great bikes.  It's gonna rip!  8)

This is hard to say! 01 rm 125 had a straight weld on the swingarm, in 02-> the weld are bended like a C.
01 rm had silver colour on the shock and the forks in 02-> these are in gold colour.

Svårt att se på bilderna om det är guld på gafflarna! Men längst bak på swingen ser man att din svets är rak, om du kollar in en bild på en 02a eller nyare så är den som ett u eller c.

I'm not that sure about the age of the bike.. The previous owner said it was a -02, and the service manual got the letters "K2" on it, but I dont really know..  8) The shock and fork is gold colored.. I have searched a lot for win identifing, but every win-decoder I have used I didnt got an answer...

Vad finns det mer för kännetecken mellan -01 och -02, Tomp???  :)

The motor changed quite a bit in 02 from the 01.
You should be able to tell what year your bike is from the engine parts.
I can't remember exactly which parts are different but when I had my 01, I know some 02 parts wont fit.

Use Alpha sports or Mr cycles part fiche's.

In 02 there was a new powervalve/exhaustvalve, higher comp. Stronger gearbox. and som minor changes.

Only thing i know wont fit is powervalve, and som inside suspension stuff.

Still not sure about the production year, let's say it's a K1/K2 with a K4 crank/piston!  :) For the moment I'm waiting for the cylinder(it's being overbored in Holland, NL). So I teared it down to powdercoat the frame...

The pre 04 RM's have a 105mm rod the later models a 110mm rod. They have a similar length cylinder but different cases. With the 110mm rod you will probably need a spacer plate.

Rod length RM125

99-03=102mm rod

04-10=110mm rod

This would probably not be a problem, my NEW crank(04-10) have the same stroke as my OLD one(-02). My new piston fits just the newer rod length(110mm) couse it got a higher wristpin locaction. I dont think Suzuki adjusted the case height, because newer cylinders can be used on older RM's! Biggest differences of the newer/older cylinders is most porting and exhaust valve parts...  8)

I got my cylinder today!!! :P Now it's time to make clearence for the bigger piston in the crankcase! And also check the exhaust port clearence..

Need to give you a confession 2T Institute! ::) I was wrong and YOU were right about the cases.. The pistons have the same wrist pin height and fits 01-08 but the newer case(04-) has a the crankshaft center lowered 8mm.. I thougt Suzuki just changed the pistons and the rods, which had been easier but they molded a new crank case instead..  :-[ Still dont know why wiseco stample there rm125 pistons 04-08, instead of 01-08.. ::)

The longer rod didnt fit my engine so I ordered a wiseco 102mm rod from BTO sports.. The engine is now ready and I'm looking forward to a start it and test ride..  8)

Clearence was made in the cases and on the exhaust valve. The cylinder is ported and raised with double gaskets and the cylinder head is lathed and lowered in the cylinder. The squish area is modified and the compression is lowered a little bit.. Built for mid-top end power!

Here it is, 144cc of Suzuki Love!  :P

i can answer this. go ahead ask me how i know? haha well i had an 04 i raced back in 07. i did the first top end and immediately had issues. very low on power( but i somehow rode it faster) and the spark plug kept coming loose. well i tore it apart and the piston was slapping the head. there was ring on the piston from it. i put it side by side and it stood a few mm's taller than the OP. it was also domed instead of flat. so that being the case the piston profile is different 04-08 vs 01-03.  but bore is the same

That's true. 04+ is a flat top, and the previous gen was domed. The shop ordered me a 03 piston by mistake  and it was domed.

Haha I know.. :D It's going forward all the time, but it's going too slow.. :-[ ;D A little less with time is my defense, I only got a few hours in the garage for the past 2 weeks.. But after next weekend I get some more time to work on my bike..

3 cars, 1 gokart, 1 mx-bike, 1 two year old daughter and 1 pregnant girlfriend, takes A LOT of time! 8)

A short video of the 144.. The engine has only been running for a few minutes at this point, and it runs really rich with way too big jets.. And thats the reason why it smokes like a diesel engine and the throttle response is slow.. Need some test laps on a track to find the right jetting.. Sorry for bad resolution, took it from my instagram via photobucket..  ???
