Hello, we have just bought our first 2 stroke motocross bike and it is for my dad. I test rode it today for him and it just feels a bit too powerful for him, he has only ever owned 1000cc road bikes but has never done off road riding. he is wanting to do enduro and stuff like hare and hound rides and all that, what modifications would be best for the bike, it has an fmf gnarly pipe on it and a standard back. Also, i was wondering if a flywheel weight would do it anygood to ame the power. Please help. thank you :)

A flywheel wt will not reduce the power, but it will spread and smooth it out. All the power will still be there, just not all at once.
I use a 13 oz on my yz. The easiest way to reduce the power is to lower the compression and retard the timing. Some bikes you can stack 2 base gaskets between the jug and the cases to reduce the compression. retarding the timing should not be that tough do a google search for how to.
I would just put the flywheel wt on a ride it much more. Your dad will get more comfortable on it in time.

Put a 11oz flywheel weight on it & get the suspension re-valved to suit off road riding.
Thats it. Have fun.

yep, soften it up and a bigarse weight

Disconnect the powervalve and that RM will become very "Enduroy". ;D

Instead of a revalve, you can always experiment with lighter suspension fluids first.

I agree that a flywheel weight will make the bike more manageable. Other necessary mods proper hand gaurds... The only true adjustment would be seat time. Its going to take a little time for his to get used to the 2 stroker. There is no replacement for seat time.
