Title: What music do you like?

I mostly listen to punkrock/rockabilly stuff.

The thing is, it's "all good, brah". It's "feel good" music. It's not whinning kids (Blink 182), pissed off convicts (Metalica), wanna be ganstas (Ice something or other), or music that kept me from getting laid when I was a teen (BTW, thanks James Taylor).

Hell, even a song about someone stealing from your garden is nice! (Who's the lolo who stole my Pakalolo!)

I moved away from Hawaii in the early '90's so all my stuff comves from back then. C&K, Keola Beamer, Bradah Nolan, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (Iz) and the Makaha Son's. Hawaiian has some distinct nitches. You have the traditional Hawaiian, the the Don Ho, Bing Crosby, Elvis Blue Hawaii type stuff. Cecilio and Kapono did to great '70s style stuff and then in the late '80s and 90's everyone started doing "Jawaiian" (Hawaiian Regge). Beamer Kapono did some great guitar stuff (instrumentals) as well as Peter Moon (who also did some great songs with singing). My favorite Peter Moon is Tropical Storm. I highly recommend that! One thing is for sure, no matter which nitch you get into, it is all "feel good music". It is happy, with a positive vibe. A lot of it is comedy (i.e. Don Ho singing "Who's the lolo who stole my Pakalolo!" or Beamer with "Mauna Pua Man" - ahhh I miss mauna pua. My stomach is growling.) Iz got real popular with his cover of Les Paul's "Over the Rainbow". I find it even on Galp (euorpean gas company) comercials here in Portugal. Iz (died in '97 I think). His father was a famous Hawaiian (traditional) singer. I think his daughter is doing stuff now. There is a lot on utube for Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

Oh I can't forget Taylor swift, though I'm actually MADE to listen to that I think my manhood shrinks a tiny bit with every sylable and guitar cord.
